Why Don't You Just Listen?!?!

My god this thread is dragging on and getting nowhere. And it is all based on assumptions. OP admits she wasn't there and says she doesn't know the owner.. so how can she comment?

Round and round we go on the merrygoround of HHO.

I know  I didnt realise is would drag on this much!!!....when i cant even give any real answers!!! ;)

did you read the post I put yesterday, I DO NOT own the horse, I WAS NOT there, I DO NOT know all the details it was a rant.....just read the earlier posts please before commenting........

How horribly rude. You wonder why people are rude to you and then you are needlessly rude to another....

Strange old world.

dont even think about telling me about money problems, I work and use ALL my wages for my ponies hay, do you not think that is hard, I work every saturday or sunday at a farm all day from 9am till around 7.30pm, and all the wages which equals around £48 goes straight towards all our three horses hay for the week?!?!?!?!?!?!? My mum and dad feel absolutely terrible about this but dad has been starting up this company for 3 years so we havent had any income for this time; seriously these three years I have not wanted to spend ANY money, if i did a bit of babysitting i smuggled it into my mums purse without her knowing! :( so REALLY not a great subject to bring up..........

I presume you live at home and don't pay bills, well done, all your money goes on your ponis. For the rest of the adult world, all our money doesn't go on our ponies. We havebills to pay also. Rent, water, gas, electric, council tax, TV licence....So in that case I agree with those who have said I wouldn't be happy to pay for a vet in this instance.

Have no idea how old you are but, if you're younger than me (16) then I think that's good you're paying for own ponies.
Though, in a month or two I have to find another job to pay for myself, somewhere to live, keep my poor doer going and feed my dog. I have to say unless people are working flamin' hard or have a good enough education to get a 6-figure income job, most horse people struggle with money :(

As for the cast horse. Banks don't make a difference unless they're massive, unfortunately :/
I think the owner has a right to be a bit annoyed with the vets bill, her attitude sounds generally bad though.

Maybe i should have said something completely off topic, nothing to do with the original post and wavering on the rude side :p

WOW alot of bitching going on about something that started as a rant. i always thought that fellow horseriders were friendly/nice and not get all snappy and argue about stuff like this.

if you dont agree with the above then thats fine but there is no need to me so rude and nasty about it.

Where on earth did you get that idea from :D

TBH though I do wonder if they make much difference anyway - he could have become cast anyway.

Why don't you mind your own business!!

Extraordinary comment :(

Even if banks don't always prevent a horse getting cast, I believe in doing everything I can to minimise the risk. I am VERY fussy that my stable is well banked up.:D

I've got to say its not exactly nice and friendly for the OP to rant about someone she knows on this forum either, especially when the OP has already admitted she doesn't know the full facts of the situation and the horseowner isn't able to put her side of the story! We all know the kind of chinese whispers that go round the horsey world - even worse to publish them on a major equestrian forum for thousands to read!

i think we are all aloud a rant and i really doubt the OP thought it would be dragged out like this. everybody has there own opinion how to care for there horse banks no banks etc etc. but i think the horse owner is acting like she doesnt want a horse to take care of and love just to show off just like a status symbol. thats my opinion-which i am aloud.

i am sure everyone on here has a rant about fellow riders, just like in normal life you have a rant about a neighbour or your in-laws.

tell me about chinese whispers-my old stable yard was so into it i left.

maybe the op just needed to vent some air and where better then on a horse site and if the horse owner ver sees this thread then she can give her 2pence to it aswell :D:D:D:D:D

sorry there this person will have no idea im talking about her!!!!!! I dont live near her, dont even know her, so you know I think were fine in that aspect!

Oh no apparently she loves blurting about how much her OH makes and she can afford to buy the best for everything, and spend alot on herself really! So I think I know that ;)

would you not rather the vet be called out than something happen to your horse?!?!?!?!?!?!

She WAS contacted, but did not answer, when they kept trying to contact her, she would not pick up and when she got to the yard the next evening to ride she was then told about her horse, they tried all methods of communication with her but aparently she has been staying with a friend - dont ask me why?! :D

Read the above reply :) Well apparently the banks have to be at least 4 ft to help but the horse should be in at least 12ft x 12ft stable, so less likely for it to become cast :)

So because she wont read it it is fine to bitch about her?
Careful love - plenty of people have 'thought' the person they are talking about doesnt come on hho - only for it to bite them on the bum!

And you know she is rich because someone said, that she said, that her husband earns money......
AGAIN, an assumption on your part as u were not actually there.

Oh, and dont worry about my horses - if they need the vet they get it - but its on MY say so as its always me doing them!

Im sorry but there is no need for any of your rude posts - when someone asks for more info on the situation and you (quite bluntly) point out you dont know the full details - it would beg the question why you posted in the first place??

I think other people were rude to the OP who then resorted to SHOUTING to get across a point which they have made several times.

If you entrust somebody else with the care of your horse, it should follow that you trust them on whether or not to call the vet in an emergency situation. They are only human. The OP has stated that the groom tried to call the owner first. And if anybody seriously believes that their vets would say things like "he had a lucky escape" or administer drugs unnecessarily, I suggest they find themselves a different vet, and report their existing one to the authorities.

Because she wanted a rant, simples. And to be fair she is not the only one who has been posting rudely :D

So how would you feel if someone ranted on here about you? Especially if they didn't know the full facts of the situation?

I am confused now - do you actually know the horseowner that the OP is referring to? Otherwise how do you know whether she treats her horse as a 'status symbol'?

I no longer bank my stables. Currently 13 horses and previously another 3 over 15 years. I have never had a horse cast in a stable, although two have cast them selves rolling in the field. One got his feet trapped in the hedgerow, another rolled on a slope and found he could not get up going up hill. I rolled him over and he was fine. Daft b*****.

OP I gather your around the same sort of age as me?
When your thread goes on and you are not liking it the best thing to do is just not post again, it will eventually die down. Everyone posts something they regret sooner or later

You've had your rant, you may have been in the wrong or not but let it go now

no i have no idea who any of you are coz if you look at my profile i have only just joined.

if you read the op post and read what the owner has/done while she is away and only comes to ride the horse and has full livery then yes i think she treats the horse as a status symbol.

dont get me wrong full livery is fine but then dont get a hump when they people you are paying to look after YOUR horse call the vet.

if i ask/pay someone to look after my horse and it would become cast or anything else happens whilst in someone elses care and they feel it needs a vet but wouldnt call i would be seriously peed off.

The OP ranted over something that bugged her, just like everybody else would aswell. i am sure somebody has ranted behind your back and 100% behind mine aswell-hence the reason why i left my old stable.its life and by the looks of it thats how the horse community is over here ( i am from germany)

Ahahahah......... this forum is a real microcosm of the horsey world, everyone is an expert and knows everything about everything so can judge all other owners!

Hope you aren't suggesting I did Allover, as both my posts were directly in answer to two of the OP's posts, so not flippant remarks going off on a tangent.

But the OP has admitted she doesn't know all the facts of the situation, and wasn't there herself, so how can you possible judge the poor horse-owner on that basis!?

As for ranting on here, there is a whole load of difference between discussing something with a few friends privately, and publishing the whole scenario on an equestrian forum with a massive readership. Would you really send a letter containing back-biting comments about people you know to be published in a national magazine? Because when you rant on here you are gaining a similar level of readership!

i wouldnt call her a poor horse owner more like poor horse.as no vet would say such words or give meds for no reason.its a rant and thats it i think your reading far to much into it

Actually I think you are the one reading too much into a third-hand account from a random stranger on the internet and judging someone you don't know, solely based on their say so!

I know you are new to this forum, but I can assure you that over the years I have seen many rantings on here that have proved to be totally one-sided and biased, and when the other side of the story is told, things are not quite so clear-cut!

so because i am new to this forum i am not aloud to have my own opinion?!?!

i think ur just after an arguement now and i am the last person to give you one.

No, I never said you weren't allowed to have an opinion - where on earth did I say that? I was just giving you a little advice based on my experience on here. It is up to you whether you take it or leave it!
