I went to bring my boy in tonight, normally quite placid, keen to get in and power walks back to his stable. But never dangerous.
Tonight, went to bring him in, fine. walked to the gate, fine then as i opened the gate he stag jumped over the muddy gateway, nearly knocking me over, spun round and reared at me, then proceeded to flip his lid!!! Couldnt get sodding gate shut. Luckily the other horse carried on eating none the wiser
Decided to take him the other way back to stables. Not as muddy.
He was acting like a loony 3 year old TB stallion (he is 20+ connemara) No longer 14.2 - he'd grown to 17.3 at least, crossing in front of me pushing me into the fencing and threatening to tank off, buck, rear Im not sure.
ANyway, when the horses in the bottom field came up to look at him he flipped his lid completely. I just had to let him go. He turned on me half reared and galloped off the way we had come. Stopped, then turned and was galloping flat out at me with not a lot of room to pass me, Fortunately Yard Manager managed to catch him and other livery came to see I was ok.
Bugger, wasnt even blowing, he was llike a loony, so out of character.
NOthing seemed to be the reason for the behaviour, snatched at his tea, but not interested in his hay net, so not starving!
Was it the mud? Was it he was already wound up and i brought him in the wrong way?? Or is there something wrong with him...
Im a bit worried!!!!!.............................................
Nice glass of wine for getting this far.....
