God don't I know how your feeling...although this time round everything I have seen has just about matched the advert but just not quite been what I'm looking for, oh apart from the one that napped, reared, ran my husband over before trying to take me back to the yard at a canter!!!
The more you see the more depressing it gets as hopes are dashed time & time again. Oh and the more I ride and don't get on with the more my confidence gets dented...I have started lessons again on friends horses & school horses to get used to riding a variety.
My big problem is I don't want to be shopping for a new horse, I wish my old horse was here, he was put to sleep a few months back:-(
Anyway I have given myself a sharp talking to this weekend and I am off on Saturday with a more positive attitude...there is something out there for everyone you just need to find it & that takes time, effort & patience!
The horse got kicked in the field the day before. Not sure whether we will be able to reschedule when she is recovered, I rather got the feeling that the seller was getting cold feet.........
I'm looking for something 16hh or more, of a sort of m/w hunter type, ID or IDx ideally but not essential. Age 5-10 ideally, needs to be sane without any nasty quirks but we don't mind doing some schooling and bringing on. Would prefer a mare but that isn't essential. Should be a good allrounder, doesn't have to be a world beater but we have both competed at our RC and want to be able to continue with that and go further in time, we hope to hunt in future and we will want to hack too.
So many horses advertised seem to either be quite serious competition horses which I think is perhaps more than we want or happy hackers that might pootle a dressage test or pop 2'3" occasionally.
I must sound really fussy, but after many many years of riding schools and shares we are really keen to move on.
Could also try asking your instructor to find one that fits your requirements. I did this with my instructor and she found a gorgeous piebald 15.2hh 4/5 yr old mare that I can buy from her end of July. Unfortunately she's decided that pony is now worth more than she was originally selling her to me for so will probs not buy. I won't look further than East Midlands but instructor went to Wales to get pony.
Tried that, she is having bad luck too, she found us one that was with a friend and that sold the day before we managed to view it, then another where the seller upped the price and we couldn't afford it, then one that the seller changed their mind, then another that sold before we could view it, then one that turned out not to be sound, and then the one that failed the vet!
