WHY is it every time i take one step forward, i end up 3 steps back!

I was riding my YO's old gelding, having jump lessons on him, really getting my motivtation back as i cannot ride my ruddy mare at the moment and i got told today ive only got him for two weeks as hes off on loan

This is the 3rd time this has happened to me, i get to a certain point and then i have to stop dead for some reason or another

I feel like crying sometimes, ive got so much enthusiasm and motivation but nothing to ride to make me use it.

Are you in a position to be able to ask if you can have him on loan?

Am I being dim or have I missed something, why can't you ride your mare? I thought you were starting to ride her again after foalie?

Im not in a position to have him on loan myself, purely because this other lady has already agreed to it before i came along.

Its going to be another 5+ months before i can get back on my mare, i just needed to carry on riding to keep my motivation up as everytime im feeling like things are going well i get slapped in the face and it all ends.

-It then takes me another few months to settle back into it and its usless for my confidence all the stopping and starting.
