to be annoyed when folk don't want to put money(piddly £2 per month) into a kitty for yard tea/coffee/milk/sugar BUT will use the bloody stuff willingly enough on a regular basis and think folk are petty for saying something.
Same people moan when someone nicks their apples/feed etc but it has been costing girl who collects money £10 to £15 of her own money to cover costs.
Not just the money its the principle I think!!!

Plus I really need to get a life if this is the only thing annoying me lol!!

Lock it all up and sit guard duty.... 'tis the only way!

Just don't understand it tho cos I would not expect others to pay for me.
 
Shame cos its only 3/4 people in a yard of 30+ everyone else either puts in or gets their own and tbh their stuff isn't safe either
 
When I was younger I didn't drink tea or coffee and livery yard still requested money for the kitty. :mad: I kept squash in my tack locker and used the hose to dilute it but they didn't like me sitting in the 'tearoom' with it. So I think they thought I should pay for sitting on the plastic chair with everybody else while they had their tea.

But now I drink tea I would contribute but still take my own unless they had earl grey not the scabby stuff they tend to buy. :D

Do they actually use the facilities or just the kettle? Might be why they don't feel the need to pay.
 
Doesn't take much to make your livery experience a trying one does it? With us it's one individual who constantly leaves a bloody mess everywhere. Haynets left tied up, tools and skips strewn outside her box, again could be accused of being petty but we all make an effort to clear up after ourselves so what makes her so special? A tidy yard is a safe yard! I feel your pain, don't have any useful suggestions just thought I'd add a moan!
 
Stick it in a cupboard with a combination padlock on it... those who contribute to the tea kitty can use it at will... those who don't can just go thirsty :)
 
On the days you know they will use it, salt in the sugar pot, rancid milk in the fridge and vinegar in the kettle. That'll soon stop 'em!
 
lol benson love that - but its not petty at all. sadly this stuff goes on in all walks of life and only way is to either lock it up or stop buying - sad isnt it that its always a few that spoil it lol
 
Some people will try and get away with as much as they can! I've never been at a barn where there were those amenities!
 
I am not suggesting you do this, but years ago someone kept using the milk belonging to a colleague in the office where I worked. She became so fed up she spiked the milk with a fast acting strong laxative and then sat back and watched.......................!!
 
I used to collect £3 a month off all the liveries at my yard and then buy supplies. The only problem is when someone doesn't pay for ages meaning I was using my own money.

In the end the Yard Manager took over and just added it to everyone's bills!
 
You could put a box clearly marked '10p a cuppa please - towards milk & tea' right in front of the kettle. And peer closely through the window while they're in there to see if they contribute to the 'honesty' box.

No facilities are for everyone and don't have a prob with that don't even mind if it was the odd cup but usually 1/2 folk are on daily basis so its not like they forget they use the stuff.

Benson good idea.Do you know of a liquid laxative with no taste or smell?

Babymare it is very sad tbh as it works well for most of us and if stopped it would be a shame as most folk appriciate that they don't have to worry about milk etc being there and can make a cup for farrier etc.
Yep Freshman there will always be the sponging twits that think everything is free unless its theirs of course
I can never get my head round why folk are like this esp as they know it is annoying some of us and have mentioned it costing own money.So if you knew this just why would you sit there and happily drink up other peoples stuff.
Suppose will never really stop it will just have to learn to grit teeth and move on
