Why is it so hard to find a horse to ride!!!

Shame your not closer to sittingbourne ,I'm looking for someone to help with my friesian , have you tried ,preloved, tack shops etc
 
The other site you can try is tack room frolics ,southeast based , it's another forum with ads on it ie buying ,loaning etc
 
I could do with someone taking my boy out for a whiz around the block mid week now the clocks have gone back - I can only get out weekends atm, it sucks!
 
Just some suggestions - Have you tried putting ads in the tack shops in Higham? There's also Speedgate and Glovers tack shops which are used by people in Meopham/Gravesend way, they may have adverts of people needing sharers or you can put your own advert up.

Also, how about contacting riding stables which do livery - they may know of someone looking for a share...

Think the answer to the OPs question is evident in their lack of conviction to actually FIND a horse to ride instead of whinging that one hasn't fallen straight into their lap :rolleyes:
 
I had the other problem - was looking for someone to ride my cob during the summer for me whilst pregnant - couldn't find a soul!!
She is so good too, goes out alone or in company and safe as houses

The not driving / transport thing is a bit of a barrier too - Often I would love help exercising my horses - but before I handed over the reins to someone I did not know - I would need them to come over at times to suit (me) to meet my horses / ride out with me / for me to assess competancy, and also stable management skills if they were volunteering to help in return for rides.
It is quite a leap of faith to hand your horse over to someone else, even if you really do want help with exercising etc.
If OP is a decent rider, then racing stables are often looking for work / exercise riders, and if she can find people living closeby who work at the yards, then transport could be cracked as well?
 
Think the transport will be biggest issue as so many yards are a bit off the beaten track. I'm wasn't actively seeking anyone to ride any of mine, but saw the original post and thought I might have been able to help. Could offer the chance to ride some nice horses in exchange for a bit of poo-picking, mucking out or similar.
