having to give up my loan mare due to issues with my health & grazing set up (i cant walk easily & so cannot care for her fully) her owner has nowhere to keep her & so she is not getting the care she needs now i have ended the loan aggreement. she is still at mine at present but grazing only paid for untill end of month.
just cant seem to fine her a home, its me that seems to be donig all the leg work & i just cant manage it.
any help with ideas greatly appriciated, tried preloved/freeads/fridayads/pony club local site & ads in several local tack shops?

ARGH!!!!!!!!
thought loaning would make life easier if i ever had a problem.

am surprised your struggling, theres been lots of posts recently from potential loaners who can seem to find the loan horses! both myself and merlywerly have been looking

whats she like?

I had a massive response off horsequest, okay so the vast majority were not suitable, but horse has been loaned within 1 week of advertising and I have had a couple of responses since that are 'reserves' in case things go wrong.

Can't find your ad on either national PC website nor on Littleport and District PC website. I know LPC have a member looking for a nice pony about that sort of size to do a bit of everything on. Do you want to PM me as much info as you have, plus pics if possible and I'll pass the info on?

and to be fair the owner should be doing the advertising....I have come across quite a few adverts from owners that horse's are coming back or have come back due to one reason or another....one owner asked that I deal with the loanee as they had the possession of the horse at the time...

Lots of people are looking for horses now...possibly for spring I don't know I am looking for now...I am so desperate to have another horse to love and care for again...(had a year and bit out)...

I have found preloved a good site...adtrader, equine adverts is another very good one..

Is the little mare? (if i remember correctly)? 13.1hh

If so how about pony club websites...?

Hope that is of some help?,...if I can think of any others I'll PM you

whats she like in temperment/experience?

If shes not a first pony I can imagine that would limit the potential suitable owners

This is a timely warning for anyone putting a horse out on loan that they can, and do, come back. So you really do have to have the resources to take them back in that event. Otherwise what is the point of loaning, you may as well sell the horse I think.

This is really for the owner to deal with OP, you've done your bit. Although of course it is more difficult when said pony is still residing with you as the owner can't or won't have them back.

ISHmad - this is the problem, owner hass nowhere for her & cant afford her. we have no solid fencing up (work in progress) & so its electric only she has been known to push fence if not fully powered & with my hip damage i just cant lug the water/battery/hay up there easily & then if she gets out i have to attempt to catch her on over 10 acres with crutches.
she is great on lead but can buck in canter (gets overexcited) however gets bored if donig nothing/very little so dont think she would be a good RDA unless they take her out for regular fast work too.
nappy hacking alone but great with company but she is not a first/novice ride.
i think the world of her but have to be realistic as to my abilitys now and sadly riding isnt there or likley to be for some time

Not all RDA ponies are steady eddies! Some of the clients need ponies that they can progress onto as they can be decent riders. Plus most RDA centres have able bodied people riding regularly to keep the ponies tuned up (and chilled out).

If she is good on the lead rein it may be worth contacting your local centre.

I really feel for your predicament, the owner is being very selfish. There is a website specifically for horses available for loan I think. Also what about Project Horses maybe? Other than that I think you need to tell the owner that after x date the mare is her responsibility and that you will be charging her for field rent and for someone to look after the mare until she takes her back or finds another home.

You must be really struggling and this just isn't fair.
