Why is it, when I bring my horse in from the field...?

His fieldmates roll at the gate?

For the last week or so, whenever I bring my horse in from the field this fieldmates follow us to the gate then roll as we're walking away and locking the gate?

He's in a field with geldings only and not really dominant although he does stick up for himself.

mine like to roll in the gateway... i always think its coz its dried mud so is better at scratching them than grass! so they might be following and then just decide it looks a nice place to roll lol!! they do get favourite places to roll too ... it scares me though too many expensive legs nr the gate
