People are prepared to rehome a broken down horse from Ireland at a cost of 750/800 with transport costs of 300/350 when people are struggling to find homes for healthy animals in this country?

So many posts saying I can't sell/loan my horse...

Yes, times are hard, I'm in the same boat, unemployed with a disability that prevents me driving and having to move house again so I can get work.

God knows.

It's a similar situation with dogs being shipped over from Ireland to rehoming centres here.

I'm all for giving everything a chance. But with our own 'stock' in dire trouble, why are we importing more problems?????

Its the same with rescues from France and Ireland and I seem to remember Crillos as well at one point. People will rescue from which ever is the latest high profile campaign, it means they don't have to actively look for a rescue, they just have to go 'me too' and feel smug that they have 'rescued'a horse. In many cases it is a cynical ploy by someone to make a fast buck and get rid of something to any home.

I agree with Amymay, there are plenty of horses in the UK that need rescuing without importing some other country's problem

They aren't horses with potential though, they are broken down ex-racehorses which there are enough of here already. You can pick up an injury free one for less money than they want in donations and travel costs.
