I have a TB who's coat can look gorgeous but more often than not is really dusty and greasy feeling- especially bad is his mane.
I can bath him but the next day he's like it again and however much i brush he just never feels like anyone elses horse (who all look fab at the moment)
I also have another horse who gets the same sort of grooming etc but looks lovely and shiney (often muddy but not greasy)
I just dont get why? all brushing seems to do it bet my brushes dirty!!!

He's ok in himself and although has been injured recently is in perfect health otherwise.

Any ideas or miracle cures please!

Mine look fairly manky at this time of year - but then they are on their holidays......I find when I cip them for the first time in Oct I have gleaming coats underneath......The only way you are going to have good coats is to rug them, which seems mean in the summer - when they spend from Sept to late May in rugs........
Cod liver oil / sugar beet can help, and decent grooming - plus everytime you ride them, hose them off well.....

Cod liver oil's a bit of a con as it's an animal by-product...best off going for vegetable/sunflower oil etc.

Linseed pellets and soya oil work the best for top gloss coats :)

He gets Spillers happy Hooves, a codlivine supplement and biotin.

I worry a bit about oil just because i have had HUGE problems with him since buying him and really this diet seems to work weight, temprement and energy wise!

I half considered one of those Rambo dust busters- dont know if they actually work?

He's mostly stabled but on paper so not overly dusty in his stable

Sumo? never heard of it or seen it!
who is it made by?

As you may be able to see from his diet hooves have also been an issue so something that might help with both would be fab!

I think tbh, just adding more oil to his feed will solve the problem. Our old HW always shone like anything on Soya oil and Linseed pellets :)

Alpha Oil does work really well for shiny coat. Mine is on Horse and Pony Cubes and Alpha A, he does look dusty when he comes in from field but once groomed (and I am not talking about half hour grooming session) he looks fantastic
