Why Is my mare eating my geldings' poo?

As above really, she keeps eating his fresh droppings. Its gross, is she deficient in something? Or just weird?!

They do this to get the gut bacteria levels up, its usually foals eating mums poo but I have seen adult horses doing it a few times.

Mares can also get 'interested' in other horses poo when they are or coming into season
