This was not supposed to happen, none of this was supposed to happen :(

As some of you may know my big lad is currently recovering from double superior check ligament desmotamy surgery and apprently its more fun to rip his bandages off than keep them on! Consequently he has picked up an infection... Why doesnt anything go to plan?

Ive already lost one to injury this year, i cant lose another, i just cant do it :(

I simply want my competition horse back fit and healthy is that really that much to ask?

Sorry this was more of a woe is me post but this has been the worst year of my life and i just want it to end... I'll be in hibernation if anyone wants me!

Another one sending hugs. Keep your chin up, it's hard when you're in the midst of it all. Is he still in bandages? When Elvis was in bandages we put anti crib biting spray all over them so they'd taste nasty. We also put a layer of masking tape over the bandages and top it up when he got through it. He also had plenty of hay at all times to try and distract him. It wasn't easy and he'd still nibble at them, but it was manageable. Fingers crossed the infection clears quickly.

Thanks everyone. He has crib box on them i actually think it just fell down as the ones ive been doing (vet did the other one) have stayed up fine. I got to him at 6am but for all i know his wounds could have been exposed all night and hes a lazy sod so lies down a lot!! Fingers crossed its not any worse tomorrow

My initial response was a trite "Why do you expect it to be simple? It never is with horses.2 But having read your post I am sending hugs, vibes and best wishes for a positive outcome.

Thanks i know horses in general arent simple (bit of a rubbish title tbh!) but i really would have like this part to have gone without a hitch!! Its bad enough that hes out of action all of next yr!

So far my xmas wish list consists of please santa just fix my pony! Or just send me lots and lots of money!!! Especially as hes already run out of insurance money!!! :D

Fingers crossed for him.

If you want company in your hibernation, give me a shout. I sat in my stable and cried the other day...and I don't even have a horse stuck on box rest!
