Horse Details for Advert Reference HM740G10D

I would be greatful if you could look at my ad for my boy I am selling him as I am 6 months pregnant and have SPD which is over softening of my ligaments caused by pregnancy which means I am on crutches can hardly walk at times let alone look after/ride/muck out etc....and will need physio after baby is born so decided to sell him as only young and should be out enjoying himself. But I am getting nowhere.

My daughter had SPD and it was terrible so feel for you.She only had it the last few weeks but had to sleep in a sun lounger and I had to wash her hairwhile she was in it.She recovered well so keep happy it is worth it.
Which website is it with?

Carthorse, ad is with horsemart.

Can I suggest a couple more pictures? Does he box/shoe/clip?

Does he not jump or do you not jump?

He looks very nice and it is a very honest advert. But it is probably due to him not liking to hack alone and needing an experienced rider that may be putting people off. Depends how bad he is when hacking alone and just what you mean by experienced rider !

He is lovely and I am trying to sell a similar horse with no luck.
Few points that might help a sale-
- does he not jump? Can you not put 'jumping potential' or anything?
-do you have to put the fact that he is an exracehorse? nothing puts people off more than that. sell them the horse on the phone first, tell them he's an exracer later.
-take out 'not a novice ride' people will (hopefully) judge for themselves whether they can ride it or not
-can you get some better photos? lots of good photos sell a horse...

He looks a lovely sort and is IMO well priced for a quick sale! Does he jump and what's he like to box/clip/shoe/with the vet etc....

Aha - just found out from another post he jumps but OP doesn't.

Would be interested to know what he jumps!

He looks really sweet, but I know selling this typ eof horse can be a challenge, there are just so many of them out there quite reasonably priced. Maybe you could consider a schooling/selling livery for a month or so, he needs to get out and maybe show some results at RC type activities

Have you tried H&H's 3k and under section? Sold a very similar horse from that in the summer and how literally hundreds of calls. He was gone within a week

Good luck on the horse selling front.

Just wanted to offer you some support for the SPD as I suffered it terribly with my last baby (she's 5 now). I couldn't get in bed, in or out of the car or even up and down the stairs after I'd had Isobel. Make sure someone fights your corner in labour. Despite SPD being written on my notes, the delivering midwife still wrenched my knees apart and caused me a stress fracture to my pelvis. (Well I always maintain it was her fault! LOL)

Best of luck with baby.

He can jump he was a hurdler, I DO NOT jump have back problems - he will hack alone but is spooky hence the experienced rider - hacking in company he is very quiet....it does mention that he is good to shoe etc. but yes he will go in a box or lorry in fact Vici J Price picked him up for me and delivered him and he got stuck on her lorry as the handle was stuck....! I havent got any more photos unfortunately and have nobody to ride him to be able to take any new ones..........

Agh I see that you are in Bristol, shame that Bossonova isnt at Bristol Uni any more because then she couldve come and jumped him for you for some more photos. Am sure that we must have some other good riders on here in that area that could come along?

Otherwise, give H and H's under £3k section a go!

I think he is lovely and would of been the sort of horse i would of looked at had i not just bought one! Have you considered loaning as an alternative especially as the urgency of the situation. I wish you a speedy recovery!

TBH, a few phrases worry me...'winter project' and 'endurance' (for a TB)...and 'Quick Sale Needed'
The horse looks tense in the photo, and the rider is tipping forward a little nervously.
If he has a nice head, I'd be inclined to put a head shot, or possible a side conformation shot, or even with him tacked up for dressage, with white bandages on.
Good luck selling.

Yes he went out on loan in the summer but I had to take him back as he was left without 3 shoes on and was soooo footsore, the girl said she couldnt get a farrier out until 2 weeks later..........! Poor Blaise's feet were so worn down one of the shoes needed glueing on...My farrier has now rectified this although he was fuming when he saw the state he came back in as in all the time I have had him he has never lost a shoe.. - Its a shame that people are out here like this because it has now put me off loaning him as I am not in a position where I can keep taking him back as the only reason I am selling him is because I am not physically able to look after him for the forseeable future.

Sally he looks lovely and I hope you get some interest soon

Can I give you a huge hug for the SPD - I was also a sufferer and I have never been in so much pain and discomfort in my entire life - TBH I have never really gotten over it

- hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well and swiftly and you get back on your feet properly ASAP x

Yeah, I'm an ex racers club member, join the forum and put him up on there. The rep for your area may be a big help to you too.

He's lovely. I'm sorry you have to sell him.

TBH when I see an ad with 'quick sale needed' I always think - what's wrong with it! Keep the 'sad sale' bit and reason in, but I'd take the quick sale bit out.

I wish you good luck with your sale and all the best with your pregnancy

the words "ex racehorse " that put me off

[/ QUOTE ]

Yep that was one thing which jumped out at me too. I wouldn't mention "racehorse" in an ad.

Horsey looks nice but the ad is a bit needy. whatwith the mention of your pregnancy problems, winter project, the riders lack of jumping ability etc.

I also think people might not quite "get" the idea that this horse could be anything from a racehorse right up to HOYS...

I'd re-write the whole ad, personally. Good luck though.
