When you can sit in the house and watch multiple laps of the summer house and picnic bench, you know they will be worn out and you haven't had to walk anywhere. :-) Meanwhile you and the older two are sitting in comfort in the house.

Since getting Tommy my life has been more peaceful. Boots was never that hyper for a Spaniel and was happy to sleep and cuddle in the house but now if he gets a burst of energy he and Tommy whizz around and then go back to sleep. It’s excellent

I’m always going to get two together. They entertain each other and are fab company. I feel sorry for some lone dogs (I said some, don’t flame me!) who display separation anxiety or other anxious behaviour.

I wouldn't get litter mates (but thats an old discussion!). Pen is 18 months and spaniel 9 months so they are at different levels. Also we cannot walk the spaniel with the others anyway so no training issues. In the garden though it is good.
And in the back hall (as we speak).

I like mine spaced out a bit in age so the pup learns from the older ones but they still have a playmate. There is five years between my current two but they play wonderfully together. There was another 5 years to the next one, who had mostly stopped joining the raucous games. Sadly she has just left us rather unexpectedly but at least there are still two for company.

They certainly keep each other entertained! We have a 3yo and a 1yo, the 1yo joined us last Oct aged 4 months after losing our 16yo old girl. It's only since we've had another younger dog that I have realised how much stimulation they get from having a similar aged dog to play with.

That’s the sort of gap I’d go for A&K - at the moment I have 3
12 year olds and Millie aged 2, they won’t play with her so I have to :)

When the time finally comes I will get another youngster to play with Millie, with the intention of then eventually reducing down to 2 dogs

Well that’s the intention, however knowing what a soft touch for a sweet rescue dog I am.....!!!

I wouldn't get two shepherd pups at the same time but we have had two collie pups at the same time, and litter mates in the past too. They most definitely keep each other entertained and it is lovely to see them playing.

With the next two, I’d definitely walk and train separately. I couldn’t risk the whole off hunting together thing. Oddly, the first two never did anything naughty, bar the ritual destruction of beds on a constant basis!
