Last week we had a cat in he was very poorly, but vets couldnt work out why? I spoke to owner to give her an update on his progress, she rang back 5 mins later crying saying she felt stupid but... she had given him Diclofenac.....
Yesterday a ladies dog was a bit off colour so she gave him ibruprofen....
Today guy rushed in with a puppy who has parvo.... but instead of bringing it in we eventually found he had been giving it some of the kids antibiotics...

Why cant people tell the truth?? at least give the vet a fighting chance eh?

im not sayin its acceptable but when vets charge an arm and 2 legs ppl are trying to save money if at all possible at the mo.

Yes Joe, I see that, I have given my vets human medication in the past, but only after I have rung the vets first to check - asking a question over the phone costs nothing, as opposed to the bill you will get if you dose them up with the wrong meds and it all goes pear-shaped.

ye dont get me wrong im not condoning it. i do self medicate myself but only because i have v gd advise from an extremely knowledgable source and they have never seeing me wrong but it annoys me when people throw random tablets at things not knowing what the outcome will be

also a common reason why people lie is to cover up the fact they have finally realised they have made a bit of a c*ck up of the whole situation and its easier to try to hide it than be shamed for doing it in the first place!!! they seem to think vets will go mental at them or ridicule them etc, some may, but its better to know to deal, than not know and end up with a dead animal!
