Why no interest?

Down my old neck of the woods, she would be a steal at that price, but perhaps 5 grand is too much up there?

Lovely pony though.

That is the only website she is on, she is up in all the local tack shops etc and we have been spreading the word a fair but it may be worth popping her up in other places.

They are the best photos we could take as the cameras we were using have massive delays so that photos was the best of a bad bunch!!

She isn't strong at all but i can see what you mean.

I'm always harping on to everyone about getting good photos when selling your horse, but in this ad, I don't think those photos would bother me at all and they wouldn't put me off going to look at the pony......well maybe they would if I felt the price was too high.

I agree about the photos. I'd recommend you take some more with better light and without the horse looking so overbent/strong.

Even one of her standing still, with a rider onboard would look better.

If she was on for £3,500 I'm sure there would be a lot more interest...

She does sound lovely though... What about the PC website, also horsemart/horsequest possibly.

Tia: I think the price has been set at that to enable the owner to drop. She really is a very lovely pony!
FinnMcCoul: I think we will have to try and get a better photo, also one that was taken in the light!
marieE: She is a really safe type, she is ridden by a fairly nervous granny and her 11yr old grand daughter. She has competed but at low level rc/pc type things due to the nerves of owner. With the right rider she would intro quite happily.
Spitchwick: My mum is going to sort out pony club websites as she is my old pony clubs secretary.

They have forgotten to put the links to the youtube vids that I uploaded for them.
Would it help if they were put on the add?

Agree that price is too high considering she seems to have no competition record and no papers. The photos aren't brilliant either - can you get someone with a decent camera and perhaps get some photos of her jumping some fillers. The flatwork photo does make her look strong as well. The market seems to be very flat at the moment, so you need to do all you can to attract buyer's attention.

If her jumping and flatwork is as good as made out, then it would pay to get her along to a little competition to prove herself, even if you have to get someone else to ride her.

Think expensive for that size pony that doesn't appear to have done anything competitive wise. If is has competed or they think it could compete at a certain level the they should put that in the ad!

Aloso, as mentioned, pics don't really do it justice sadly. Maybe she should drop the price to that nearer to what she wants for it and maybe not mention that it is negotiable?

TGM: She was taken to do some showjumping 2 weeks ago with some one else. I will suggest to owner that she trys to get her away to more. I will def try to get some better photos.
MarieE: the first pic in the add is of her competing, hence the tiny jump!
the_watcher: I'm not sure if tack/rugs are included, but i know the owner could open her own tack shop so i would have thought she will go with some
LadyT: i will suggest to owner that she puts more in the add and thinks about dropping the price.

How did she do showjumping? Even if she went clear, but was not placed, it is worth mentioning. Obviously state height of course as well.

Also says she has done PC activities and hunting. If you can say she has done those and behaved impeccably and references are available from DC it would be more impressive. (I know some ponies that have 'done' PC and hunting but behaved deplorably - so having just 'done' those activities is not necessarily good!)

I think she had stop at a water tray that had been put in to form a coffin style fence as a believe it was xc style showjumping. However second time at it she was fine. In the ponies defence i don't think she had seen a course since september, and the girl riding had only sat on her twice.

I will suggest to the owner that she looks at getting the references. She hasn;t done pc with the current owners as the grand daughter refuses to compete/ride in front of people but did it with previous so a year ago. She has done rc with current owners and been to rc camp etc.

Does sound like a lot for unreg pony with no competition record. Also photos make her look strong I would suggest a picture of her looking sweet, cuddly and gentle as well as the ridden ones.

Would also put her on horsemart - prices on there in general are higher so she won't seem so expensive compared to others.

The same advert was put up in my tack room at the weekend, by the grandma of a girl that is at school with the owner! what a small world it is.

I didthink it was expensive but from what I have heard it is a nice pony.

Wouldn't say personally that the price would be affected by whether she's registered or not, but if she's 'talented and has a big scopey jump' I think you need to show it/prove it.

The photos need to show her scopey jump. The 2nd photo only looks to be about 2ft 6" / 2ft 9" and the first one a lot smaller. And why would her owners say she's talented? What has she won? Where? How often?

There are so many ponies advertised as 'exceptional, talented or potential' but unless you say why you think that then people tend to dismiss it and then when you get to the bare bones of the advert, it doesn't actually say a lot.

Just my thoughts anyway!!

[/ QUOTE ] I think if she was actually a registered Connemara mare, then she would be worth more - firstly because she has breeding potential, and secondly, and more importantly, she would be eligible to be shown in M&M ridden and working hunter classes, which are very popular.

SO1: Will suggest to owners about better photos, she isn't strong so it's funny that people think she look it.

Madhossy: Your comments so make alot of sense. The second photo, the jump is around 90cms and the vids on youtube (which owners have forgotten to put links to on advert) she is jumping a metre with ease. She hasn't actually won a great deal due to her owners nerves etc, it is a case of what she is capable of which is easily jumping a 1m track, doing a beautiful dressage test plus being very safe/sensible and easy to do! Thinking about it she really is the ideal motherdaughter share type so maybe should think about advertising her in that way?

Diesel dog: Being up here really does makebuying/selling horses more difficult!!

TGM: She could still be shown as a working hunter just none reg and im not sure if a horses breeding is needed to show at county level as a worker (but not m&m).

benmilo: What a small world it is!! Where abouts are you?

[/ QUOTE ] Her breeding is not needed to show at county level as a plaited worker, but would be if she was shown as a M&M worker. M&Ms are very popular these days and seem to command a premium price - I mention this as I wonder whether this is where the owners have got the price from, by comparing her to similar registered Connemara ponies.
