Why O why do sellers lie???????

:( Why do sellers these days feel that it is right to lie?, after spending months searching for a first pony i am still amazed how people lie and are prepared to hold back vital information till you get to a viewing? do people really think that because it is a first pony i am looking for as the parent i know nothing?? at this rate they will need a competition pony before they get 1 lol. Rant over i guess just maddening after another failed viewing when if the owner had just been honest i would not have wasted my time her time or my diesal grr. Where have the days gone where what was written in the advert is what was true, is it just me??
 
No, sadly you are not alone. We recently sold out younger son's saintly first ridden who had done it all and took riders off the lead rein to hoys. I could have sold him 10 times over and was fortune to be able to choose the best long term home for him.

Don't lose hope - they are out there as are (some) honest sellers.
 
I know exactly what you mean! Went to view a pony that supposedly can jump, ride in a nice outline and the pictures they sent me were nothing like the hairy, fat unfit beast I saw! Child then jumped on, cantered it round without warming poor pony up and proceeded to jump several 80cm fences!

I've met plenty not as described and it is so frustrating when you've wasted all that time and petrol! Now I refuse to view anything that's over an hour away without plenty of photos and videos to see. Who said horse hunting was fun??
 
I hope so, i guess i have just been unlucky enough to come across those who think because you want a first horse you won't know the difference between something well schooled and and not at all schooled, todays bucked when asked for trot, totally ignored requests for canter and bronked when saw a jump, not my idea of a first horse!!
 
Shame, we just sold one of our ponies which was that today.

Have a 13.1/2hh left possibly, just depends what you're looking for :)
 
I could not agree more charcoal feathers has been the most stressful thing i have done in a while, moving was a breeze at the side of this, i remain convinced he is out there somewhere :( hopefully then it will all be worthwhile, i went to see 1 which was an absolute lunatic luckily enough he was big enough for me to ride first , as i think if he had put my kids on first i would have killed him ( the seller), lets just say the conversation afterwards was very blunt and short;)
 
Ah sorry oppisite end of the country to me.
I got my daughters pony from a dealer. She is amazing exactly as decribed and more might be worth looking round at a few or gettting some reccomendations of good ones. You have alot more come back off dealer too if there not as described its just about finding the right one.:)
 
Yes i don't know why i never liked the sound of buying from a dealer, but am starting to think it may be the best plan if anyone can recomend a good 1 up north?, i could have easily bought a pony with the amount i have spent in diesal in last few months .
 
sellers lie to get a sale, buyers lie to cover the fact they are living in lala land;) the joys of buying and selling, i'm currently selling daughters pony (too small for what you want) and once he is gone i flatly refuse to buy or sell anything again. i've been perfectly honest that he is still a bit green in his schooling but i've still had people come and tell me he's a bit green:rolleyes: well no .... sherlock i told you that:mad:

No i didnt like the sound of it but after seeing so many undescribed private sellers i went the dealer route and dont regret it one bit. I got a trial and she is the perfect pony. They also gave me pictures and details or previous owner who i could contact. She hadnt ended up there because she was naughty or anything they had just part exed her wth something else they had for sale.
Sorry i dont know any up there at all.
 
ibblebibble, yes guess never thought of it from other side and do know mums who think their kids are destined for olmpics so need appropriate pony when in fact they can't even canter properly, think that what makes me so irrated i have been totally honest about what i am looking for, a true best friend, as they have only been back riding 6 months 1 who will forgive their mistakes correct them where poss and give them their first taste at competing , on the phone pony is suitable, when we get there sometimes i think they must have gone to wrong stable as completly not as described. You are obviously 1 of the few honest sellers left out there x

So how is that not as described?

Actually I learned years ago not to travel for more than an hour to view horses for exactly the same reason as you.
