Why oh why does my gelding insist on forgetting all his training?

Sorry, just a small vent as I can't show my frustration to him.

The last few times I've worked him (in-hand as he's not backed yet) I've had to spend the first few minutes reminding him of the most simple basics. By the end of the session he's being obedient and back up to his normal level of training, but it's back to square one the next day.

Hopefully it's just the joys of spring and his brain will return in time.

I think that I have been spoiled by my grey. She learns quickly, remembers it all and tries hard to get things right (even with distracting motorbikes going past). Of course I have to make sure that she doesn't learn the wrong thing...
