Why on a shoot

Do you have nasty, nasty bitches. Took k out for his first shoot at 18 months old amd this woman had a pop at me at every opprtunoty. Wouldnt mind but her springers look shite and alwsys need tlc after as theyre cut to ribbons
 
I hate going there and avoid her like mad. Shes a pro and described me as a dressed up. Ie all the gear and no idea. How am I suppossed ro progress with this. Li
 
I would find a different shoot if you hate going. It's meant to be fun! What is she picking on you about? Is your dog unruly? As for all the gear no idea thats probably me lol well it was last season now I'm more gear and half an idea! Seriously though its meant to be enjoyable if you hate going find somewhere else where you will enjoy it.
 
18 months is very young to take a dog on a shoot so I am assuming this was just a trial day and that you used your dog for just one drive or two? What do you do - picking up/beating? Was it a rough shoot/big commercial shoot/syndicate shoot?

If you know what you are doing then don't be put off by the loud mouth that inhabits every shoot because to be honest most of the other people there will know exactly what she is like and be rolling their eyes behind her back!

Keep your head down, do the right thing and you will be accepted by the rest of them - there is always one to spoil it!
 
One of the main reasons I love going shooting is the people. We always have a laugh and a bit of banter (especially between the lab owners and the spaniel owners!) As the others have said, so long as your dog is under control you should find yourself a different shoot to go on!
 
He is young but on old shoulders. He was a gem. It was a walked up day but takimg him again for a couple of drives next sat. Ive been beating many years and now have a proper dog. Still take my rescue cocker

it really us difficult when someone appoints themselves as being in charge, isn't it? Bloody irritating too!!

I used to pick up, on a large estate and there was an old boiler there who seemed to think that she was in charge of the dogmen. Mostly we ignored her, but as the owner of the estate had inherited her from his father, she felt that she was indispensable, and something of an institution. Life would have been easier had she been in one!! I used to spend my time sweeping up behind her geriatric old labs!!

As others, either try to keep out of her way, or find somewhere else for your dog work.

The lab owners are only jealous cos they know we are the bestest:D:p
 
He's all legs and bounce and gingerness - unfortunately he's also all teeth, having a habit of nomming on his owner when he gets all excited:rolleyes: She's doing really well at discouraging this though:)
 
They do have a bit of a mouthing habit as a rule when iccle! Perfectly usual ginger fing trait! They are funny, get so excited they dont know what to do with themselves!
 
Well ive left the shoot. Didnt go for their first day. Far too bitchy amd cliquey. Have a fab friend who is a gamekeeper. Took dogs out and he thinks both ok. Ken he said is very mature for his age and a fast learner. So all good
