At many eventing events I have seen in the dressage people wearing white tail bandages on their horses in the warm up and I just wondered why? And why a white one of all colours!

I cant say for the horses you saw but if I use white tail bandages it's because they old leg bandages that are not good enough anymore to use on the legs .
In the past when white was used for horse things it was to display your wealth because of the labour involved .

What they traveled in potentially, or for ease of picking out a horse! Sea of bays, if yours is wearing a bright colour then you've got a slight hope of pointing it out to the owner :D

I seem to remember a thread quite some time ago with a list of things a stand in groom had to do for a 3 day eventer - one of which was to make sure that the correct white tail bandage was used for dressage warm up (amongst many many other things).

I don't know true this was - but I do remember reading something about this before

Mostly so they don't forget to take them off! Black boots and black tail bandage on a bay horse are so easy to forget and a really dumb mistake to make at a 3 or 4 star.

That very thread came to mind when i thought about white tail bandages too, thought I'd be the only one to remember! Agree it will be so it stands out
