Sorry if this has already been done but eek! what a pile up.

Lucky there were no serious injuries here.

ETA- Just read a different report & it does seem like a bit of a freak accident - I think they genuinely thought it was a safe track.

bit of a shocker, thankfully no major injuries! I think someone walks the course, but they don't check every square inch, so things can and do get missed. I remember someone saying they twisted their ankle and fell twice in the same place (on separate occasions) on a racecourse where a horse subsequently fell and had to be PTS

Simple answer - money. The course owners know that cancelling a meeting will cost them dearly. The odd broken horse doesn't concern THEM.

I would tend to agree, BUT, you are forgetting just how valuable a good racehorse is - money that cannot be beaten in any other equestrian discipline.

I can't see an owner risking what could end up being worth £250million pounds (or however much different types of racers are) for a meet.
