do things always happen?

went to daughters house for dinner today so was late doing the pons this evening.

so i go over the yard to put them to bed in the nearly dark, and what do i find?

harold has a big red streak down his leg.
so i hose it to see whats there and it`s not as bad as first sight,a cut on the point of his elbow and a little swelling.
(i`m really glad i have taught the babies hosepipes)
i decide to leave him in the little paddock with some hay as i think it will be cleaner.
while i am doing the others he rubs his bum on the fence and a rail pops off so then i have to find a hammer and nail to mend it.
dan wonders where harold is and digs a hole in his bed and his water goes flying.
so,does water and sneaky shetland lets himself out of the yard.
while all this is happening there`s a fox family popping their heads through the hedge and my dog keeps running off and i`m shouting at her.(good job she has bells on because it was nearly dark).

any advice on cuts on elbows please.

i left everything ready for when i got back tonight and it should have been a quick 5 min job.
thanks for listening.

Do you think it needs stitches?

dont think it needs stitches, thankfully,it`s the shock of seeing a red streak down a white leg!!think it had not happened long.
horses eh?

Well, the beast probably has about 40 litres of blood given his size....what percentage of that do you think he's been drained of?
Presumably he's had tetanus vaccs? In which case, clean it (plain water), check that it is only superficial, and maybe put some vet gel (Intrasite or similar) to keep the flies off.
Monitor for heat and swelling/increased lameness which could indicate infection, and the need for a vet.
I didn't bite him THAT hard
