Posted on behalf of my YO....We believe this is a targeted attack but Leicestershire horse owners just be aware, we're in Quorn...

I arrived at my ponies field yesterday morning for the haylage delivery, where I discovered 3 of my ponies tails had been cut off!!!!

The first is my little boys Welsh section A who he was going to do his first season of lead-rein classes on this year, I've bought him all his kit, now I've got to try and explain to a 3 year little boy why he can't "Ride on Ted at the show"

The second is my Champion New Forest, my pride and joy!

The third is a Welsh section B who is with me to show for a friend who can't show due to health problems!

Words can't express how truely devastated I am!
I am 99% certain I know who is responsible for this cruel act and the police are involved! I just hope the can sleep tonight knowing they've broken my little boys heart and left ponies without tails heading into the fly season!!!

I am sorry that such a horrible thing has happened, but I would still take the pony to the show. When you enter, make sure to tell the judge that someone vandalised him. I know showing is about the overall picture, but I would still take the pony.

Some people are disgusting I hope you get justice for these actions ! Re not being able to go to the shows i might be wrong but i think ive heard of false hair for horses i wonder if you could get something like this for the tail, i hate to think of any child missing out.

What sort of evil cowardly person would do such a nasty thing, do you think it's yobo's messing around or someone who knows you personally?

I'd be fuming, is there anyway you can get a false tail put in that you can just use for shows so your son can still enjoy his showing this summer?

That's dreadful and no doubt these same people will be professing to 'love animals'!!!

Could you get one of the 'false tails' I often see being sold on ebay or suchlike - you plait them in I believe and they are made of horse hair - come in different colours. It would be such a shame for your little boy to be unable to go to shows.

What a sad lot the human race are - no wonder we are having all these natural disasters today; we as a whole deserve no better!

Enter & tell the judge. If they are any good they will understand & be able to assess him fairly minus tail.

you think you know who it is, can you prove it to the police? What do you surmise their motive to be?

Why indeed, makes me mad just hearing about whats happened to you and your ponies. Evil people.
I'd still go to the show and explain to the judge. Get some fake tails, help with the filies if nothing else.
Hugs to you and your little boy. x

Awful thing to happen, but surely your three year old doesn't have to be disappointed, take him in the gymkhana instead! My little boy will be making his debut in the four years & under this year :)

First time we took our little pony out to a gymkhana she had next to no tail 'cause the calves had chewed it off!

How awful, I'd still take the pony and explain to the judge or put it on your entry form, devastating. You can get sew on ones, I'll try and do a bit of research but I'm sure I've seen this somewhere.

And to do it coming into summer with the flies as well, disgusting

I would def still take the pony to the show - explain to the judge and either get a fake tail as advised above or just go ahead without. I assume this is some personal attack and something to do with the shwoing world as it were - ie they cut your pony's tails that's going to keep them off the show circuit?

How awful! Sounds like deliberate sabotage by someone who knows you were going to show them... they're obviously wonderful specimens if they have to do that to them!

I'd be tempted to put it on the form and provide proof (police incident number/letter of explanation from the police). You can get fake tails (as when showing Morgans) but I'm not sure if they'd look well or be allowed. Check it out though - it's not worth everyone suffering because of some else's behaviour.

There is CCTV on the Marina gate opposite our field so the police are getting the footage in the hope they can see it happen or in the least see who came and went in the time frame.
We believe it might be an ex livery who's turned sour..

That is awful. Can't understand the mentality of some people whatsoever. I was expecting less tail to be left than seems to be the case in your photos, so at least at the rate of growth most native types have they should have a reasonable length of tail back in a few months.

If it does turn out to be a sour ex-livery I would make sure they are well and truely named and shamed , no self respecting yard owner wants these sort of as*****s on thier yard.

How awful :( It probably is someone you know and who knows which horses belong to who, because the in the middle picture there's a horse who still has his tail. A similar thing happened to my mums friends horses. There were 5 horses in the field but only her 2 horses were getting targeted. Hope you get it sorted soon.

That really is awful. Cannot believe someone has taken the time and effort to do that....

Honestly, so as not to upset your little boy I would still enter the class - even if he doesn't win he still gets to ride!!! I'm sure the judge would be understanding.

That is just disgusting. Whoever did it is a pathetic excuse for a human being. Hope they did get caught on CCTV. Regardless I think you should still go to the show, whether in the showing classes and you explain to the judge what happened or in some fun events like the gymkhana races and things.

Wonder why they felt the need to do such an awful thing ? looking at it from an outsiders view, thank goodness they obviously didn't want to injure the animals, it's all aimed at the owner, whats the story ?

Basically she had her pony on grass livery and we worked on a rota sharing feeding and haying between us so people could get time off.
Then she started not turning up leaving us to look after her pony 7 days a week so basically on full livery but still only paying grass livery prices.
The reason she started not coming is due to having a new boyfriend who is an ex con known for burglary and drug offences....the YO said we dont want him on the yard around our horses and children etc and she didnt like that so she was asked to take her pony and leave.

We think it was her but as yet no proof....but she knew in a field of 15 which 3 were the show ponies and they are also 3 which are very good natured and wouldnt kick out.

We were at a show and got leafleted by someone doing hair extensions for ponies, including doing tails, bit of mane rubbed off by rugs etc. The before and after photos looked really good and very realistic Wonder if there's anything like that near you?

people were doing that round here a few years ago, they wer taking them as they could apparantly make hundreds of £ on them for rocking horses hair? wonder if its maby the same thing
