My second youngest dog sleeps in the bathroom (his choice) with my oldest dog. They have a comfy bed each and the oldest settles no problem. Rue did used to sleep in the kitchen but started howling to be out of there too, hence the move to the bathroom.

Rue has started howling again on a night. It can be anything from 12 to 5am when he starts. He won't stop unless someone goes down and lets him out of the bathroom. He runs straight to his bed in the living room. He will sometimes go out for a wee.

If he's left in the living room, he doesn't cry. Mum isn't willing to leave him in there because he pees sometimes.

It can't go on- mum and I are both getting exhausted and the neighbours have complained. Any ideas? He was at the vet in November and had a very through checkup.

Thank you.

On phone so can't edit- he's crying now even though I let him out at 5:10. It starts as soon as I close the door sometimes.

He's always been a bit of a worrier, if that helps.

Thanks

Thought of something else sorry. He goes for a short walk/run in the garden before being put to bed. Usually that's around 11:45.

I'd check him out at the vets for a UTI. Might also think about limiting (not restricting!) water in the evening. Bathroom might be a bit cold? And maybe think about a crate.

Good advice here. You might also find a DAP diffuser helps things. Definitely think it's worth a vet check though.

Is the living room darker? or is this where he usually lies at any other time?
A vet check as suggested is not a bad idea esp if this has just started.
In the bathroom I take it people go in and out for the toilet, could be be disturbing him? also mayb worth a black out blind in the room as part of it could be breaking of light.
Make sure toilet seat down aswell he could be drinking out of the toilet:D
A crate in the living room would be the way I proceeded as suggested.

He's always done it to some extent. Just seems to be getting worse.

Bathroom is warm and dark (blinds on the window, no lights outside). He has a memory foam dog bed and a blanket. He's not big enough to drink out of the pot (but the lid is kept down.)

My sister has my crate at the moment or I'd try him in it tonight.
