Why would anyone do this?

The girl called 'Laura Maxwell' who was arousing a bit of suspicion on the fb group has some pictures of a palomino mare in her fb albums.

There's another one as well. She looks like quite an old mare so maybe...? However doesn't look like she's in the UK - I really don't know but just wanted to put this on here just in case!

Thanks lilyoftheincas. The link doesn't work, but we have seen the photos of the mare. She had one on her profile pic at one point and came on asking was it Candy. She said it's her own mare but Ellemoo confirmed it's not Candy and anyway it seems to live in NZ!

Since then Laura has been back trying to convince us her friend Sally in Kent has Candy, even giving us "Sally's" email. Sally (who is clearly Laura:rolleyes:) has emailed photos as proof. However all the photos were lifted off Goggle Images and were 3 different palominos, all in America.

Laura is a time-wasting attention seeker, I'm afraid.
 
Ah okay. Like the title says, why would anyone do that?! :( silly people... Good luck with the rest of your search, I'll keep my eyes and ears open! :)
 
Im sure that there was a Palomino mare called Candy on my friends yard in South Wales. Also think that I rode her once or twice! This was going back a couple of years so I may be getting muddled (Happens a lot these days!)

Friend is on holiday at the moment but will forward the facebook link on to her and see if it is the same mare.

No. Shes on holiday so I doubt If she will check her facebook for a day or two. As soon as I hear off her I will let you know.
 
It's awful that people will deliberately give false hope to someone who is desperate.

Might it also be worth considering that the pony's name might have been changed at some point too?

I hope that the old owner finds out what happened to Candy soon.
 
Hi. My friend just got back to me and doesnt think it is her. She said that the Candy on her yard in ancient but she will check when she goes gown the yard later.

She'd be in her early twenties so not "ancient" by most peoples' standards, but you never know!

It was mistaken identity. The girl who remembered a person with a palomino Candy who died, managed to find that person and they confirmed it wasn't the same mare.

We are finding out that Candy is a very popular name for palominos! :) The freezemark is a great help though, as we can quickly eliminate all the other Candys we keep finding. :)

As she is freezemarked can the freeze mark company locate her. My old boy was registered with freezemark and I had to pay a subscription every year.

I am sure you have explored this already but just a thought .

Hope you find her. I have stayed in touch with my old chap and 8 1/2 years later still get updates.

Her details haven't been updated, sadly. She's still passported as owned by Ellemoo, who has tried all the usual methods. All that's left s to spread the word in the hope that someone recognises her. :(
