"I could never own a Bay and think it was special...they're just too common lol."
I personally think that bay is the classiest colour! I would rather own a bay than a coloured, but this is coming from someone who owns a grey, a blanket appy, a chestnut and a wierd roany thing xp (my family's horses, but I ride them all and seem to be the one who does everybody's mucking out...) And I'm looking phoning tonight about another appy for sale, so fingers crossed, he may be lovely and then I'll have two spotty botts!
I'm not a big fan of coloured horses unless its on a cob type...the finer sport horses etc don't suit being piebald...just my opinion. But i have noticed at shows there seems to be more of them...they are becoming common rather than fashionable. QUOTE said:Sorry meant to quote this with my above post !
if you come accross a judge that has the same opinion as some of the posters on here that "it doesn't suit fine breeds" or "its common" or so and so then you'll be judged on their colour and slung behind the solid colours whether they are a better horse all round in confirmation, how they are put together etc.
If this is refering to my earlier post then you obviously didn't read my further post which i said...
"Chill your beans...i meant they are common as you see allot more of them now and it's not a fashion thing anymore.
I have owned coloured horses and loved them...I'm not raciest, i love all colours!!!,
I have 2 bays at the moment and i wasn't offended by someone calling them a common colour...it's just a colour get over it.
The colour of your horse doesn't make it any better than someone else's it's their talent and ability that i look at.
When i judge i look at the horse and i don't think "the coloured horse goes like poop but because it's brown and white I'll give it extra marks!!!"
I judge on the horse and rider/handler not the colour of the horse and any judge worth their salt would do the same.
I personally do not like finer breeds that are coloured but i judge each horse on their own merits...I'm also not a big fan of Section A's but it doesn't mean i would judge them in a class any differently. On the day the horses/ponies are judged against the others in that class.
I think you must be a bit of a sore loser as you seem to be holding a bit of a grudge...
25 years ago when I was a teenager - no-one except the gypsies would have a coloured horse!
