Finally found the most lovely family who perfect and are interested in buying my horse and... he's gone lame, and won't come right.

Why does it always happen to meeeeeeeee.

That's nothing, my share decided to have an infestation of drug resistant red worms on the Friday of last years four day Jubilee weekend.... Always on bank holidays....

Every time I plan on riding again after a break for weather, lameness etc the bu$$er always goes lame again *sigh* I am actually convinced she is a ham and should be on the ruddy stage as she is sound when she thinks Im not looking

Colic on New Year's Day was a lovely treat, he was absolutely fine after vet came and check inside. Old bird usually likes to aim for weekends or bank holidays to have some soreness

Arrived at the yard a few years ago when Short Stuff was younger & more annoying (& Long Legs hadn't even been born..! :O) to find her front leg strung up in her haynet! What a wonderful Christmas present!

Lord knows how she did it as I've always been careful with haynets after hearing horror stories, but she is a determined little so & so.. Thankfully, she wasn't hurt - just a little upset.. Cuddles & carrots soon cheered her up :)

Because I swear that secretly they have an evil sense of humour ;)

Went up to the yard yesterday for a quick check of the nags before work to find the youngster lying down, reluctant to get up, with pulses in both front feet. I am, of course, dressed for work, in a white shirt, inappropriate shoes, and didn't skip my boxes out the day before because the donks are out 24/7 and only come in for a few hours to be worked. Anyway, freaked out, dragged them both in off the grass - youngster not lame, looking sleepily bemused if anything - mucked out, watered, soaked hay, got slobbered all over by OM so green stains on the shirt, and have to dash into work half an hour late. Got a very puzzled look from my boss. I went back up yesterday evening to find B is fine. Kept her in for paranoia's sake, worked her lightly today. She's still fine, no lameness, no discomfort and no pulses either. Have stuffed them back out tonight. Wretched things.

Good luck fixing yours!

I could never mention shows, lessons, rallies or anything to do with riding in front of my mare coz guarantee she would injure herself. Was a running joke at the yard and everyone started talking in code around her lol

My mare is playing this game too. I've not been able to ride for work and holiday reasons, for nearly three weeks, but have ten days off. The day before I got home she got in some wire and has slight cellulitis, so off work. I also had a really nice sharer lined up to come and try her - who had already been waiting two weeks while I was away.

Mine became ill on a Bank Holiday, had a bad reaction to a fly bite the night before a show, went missing on christmas day for 3 hours.. turned up in the wrong stable... need I go on?

My old pony got swellings on her neck on the one day of a huge show, all vets and grooms and any form of help were there. Also we were worried that it was strangles and if she had it then its likely others were contaminated, and where were the others? AT THE SHOW... We thought we had contaminated an entire show with strangles! :O

Yep, just had this!

Booked a holiday in March for the end of June and arranged for my sharer to have him for the whole week I was away. Perfect arrangement for both of us - or so I thought!

3 weeks before I go away, he comes up lame. Not really bad, but enough to warrant a few days off. Long story short, he wasn't coming right, so back man, farrier & chiro were involved, assured me what it was or wasn't and that he would come right in a week or so. No foot soreness, it all seemed to be coming from the pelvis area. He'd had a hooly in the field (very hard ground atm) the day before he originally came up lame so we assumed he'd either pulled something, or such like.

The days running up to going away, he was no worse but not getting better & I'm freaking out. Sharer & friends at yard tell me not to worry, they will look after him & to try to enjoy my holiday.

So off I go. 3 days in and I get a phone call saying they're putting him on boxrest ready to call the vet when I get back and that was that. Holiday totally upset (not that I wanted to go by the time it came, but what can you do), my poor bf must have had a rotten time too putting up with me fretting.

Sleepless nights, worrying, unable to enjoy myself... finally the week was over and we were going home!! As we're sitting at hotel reception waiting for our coach to the airport I get a text...

It was an abscess in his back foot all along (all of us and 2 farriers missed it!!), it came out earlier that day and he was now perfectly sound.

I was practically in a heap in the hotel lobby.

But silver lining, I found out that I have some very good friends. I'm so relieved he's better but really, Tom, your timing leaves a lot to be desired!!
