have added a bit to the post Waterproof boots about the Aigle ones, they're fantastic, take a look under that post but promise I have big calf muscles too!
I second Aigle too they have a strap to adjust and mine are the red lined ones that ensure you never ever get cold feet. I walk through the river and the waves in them and still my feet stay warm..
ps the bad news is they were £67 or £87 I cant remember, but would gladly pay that again for them.
I have the Toggi Wanderer Esprit wellies - highly recommend them. Keep my feet toasty warm even of the coldest of days: http://rmacleod.co.uk/wellington%20boots.htm - scroll to the bottom - £72 im afraid though
I've the same problem! I wear Dunlop Endurance wellies, perhaps not the most stylish, but fit well and are toasty warm. My last pair cost me around £25
this is what I had put in the other post - they do various price ones depending if you want them lined etc " I have a pair of Aigle walking wellies, they cost about £60, are waterproof but also support and cushion your foot like a proper boot not a flimsy wellie, they have a side gusset and leg strap top to secure them (also stops hay etc getting in) as I have really big calf muscles too and they are fantastic boot. Unlike normal wellies you can wear them all day and they feel great and keep you warm and dry. Have ridden in them too and they are fine. Think its called the Parcour and is available also in a winter insulated version but guess is more pricey - I wear mine with wellie liners in the winter. Hope that helps
PS the mountain horse steel toe cap boots as mentioned above are also fantastic and really comfy as well as waterproof but I prefer my Aigle ones as keep my legs clean and dry"
A good countryside pursuits shop whould have them or online try searching on Aigle Boots or Parcour - Good luck
