Wierd Advert Replies

I have recently put my horse up for sale on a well known internet site and you can get some e-mail replys from it too.
Some of them have been a bit odd! Sounding like they are foreign put through a translator, as they are very formal, call my horse "it" and always want to know final price. They also come across as quite rude because they use orders like "You will send me recent pictures and final price" And they are @gmail addresses.

So far i just ignore these weird replys but i cant be the only one who has got these! So a bit of advice as to how to spot a scam would be useful or if someone could just enlighten me further to these odd messages, or am i just reading too much into it??

Definate scams. These people can come up with such elaborate plots for you.

When I had an advert posted I got the same one that wanted recent pictures and final price, had very obvious grammar mistakes and called the horse an it...

I had placed a wanted add NOT a for sale add.

I would say if anything rings alarm bells walk away. I know sometimes people don't have the best spelling, particularly in emails, but I don't think any horse owner would call your horse 'it'.

I had this too - even people asking if they could send me a cheque and then i ship them the horse to a foreign country without them seeing him or me knowing anything about where he was going - i dont think so! .
One person asking whether 'it' could gallop as 'they like gallop'.

my friends had loads of these just report it as spam when you recieve it she got offered double her askin price for kohl almost 8 grand and they didnt even know what she was selling!

Yeah, ive been ignoring them but they do kinda freak me out ! and also make me a bit fed up .

Definatly scams.

The usual way to tell as others have said is the very bad grammar and referring the horse as it.

Lots of scammers also ask for the horse to be shipped out without even seeing pictures of it and want to send you a cheque to cover transport.

Obviously you can tell a genuine buyer as they will ask for more details of the horse with maybe more pics and I would also hope that they would want to see the horse first. (having said that I bought my mare unseen

)

It does make me wonder how the scammers manage to reply to so many ads.

I think my horse must be on the same site as I've had exactly the same thing - calling her 'it' and 'will organise transport' but say they are in England? and ask what is my lowest price?
Very odd wording, sound foreign and never actually use the word horse or any equestrian words!

Whatever you're selling you get these scammers. I do enjoy winding them up by vaguely replying so they have to email again and again - must be wasting their time and preventing them contacting others to be taken in.

i recently sold my car and i got the the same, i think i got 8 in all wanting me to ship me car and they hadnt seen in or anything. one even said say hello to all of my family and wished that they were all well

They are scams - lead them on a bit - it's quite fun really!!!!

Definately a scam. I had one recently as I'm selling my clippers, the first one I got just said were they still for sale, so I replied, but then I got a response which wanted the final asking price, and I thought here we go....

Wish they wouldn't use gmail addresses - I use gmail! You get these scammers all the time, just ignore them. Once I replied pretending to be interested in what he had to say, we had a little arguement with it ending with my asking "why do you scam people?" and him saying "why not?". Charming.
