I recently bought a new horse, when I went to see her for the second time she had a lump on her chin. The owners said it was where she had caught it on her head collar. I had no reason not to believe them, I got her 5* vetted and the open lump wasnt even picked up. When I got her home I had my vet look at it when she got vaccinated and she said it wasnt anything to do with her teeth (the dentist also said this) and it was likely to be due to a headcollar and it should heal soon. This was nearly 3 weeks ago and it has still not gone!!! Its very clean, not growing and doesnt seem to hurt her but it just wont heal and is still very raw and quite bloody! I have been cleaning it regulary and putting antibacterial gel/powder on it. Obviously I will get the vet out if it still doesnt go but i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas? thankyou.

What are you cleaning it with? Some products may hinder healing and you can overdo the cleaning. If the wound looks clean I would just cover with Dermagel and give it a couple of days, if no change then speak to your vet again.:)
