Wierdest competition prize?

Not something I have won and not really weird but at the BRC Nat. Champs the senior intermediate team won Kan backprotectors...Unfortunately one of the team members was male so had to give his away!

When I was in Ireland the area RC eventing league was sponsored by a company who gave out fairly boring plaques to the 1st 2 and then 3rd to sixth got nice baseball hats and gillets! I was 2nd so got said boring plaque, mind you, when you then saw people wearing the baseball hats and gillets at compeitions you knew you had beaten them ;)

not weird particularly but i'll never forget last year driving home at 11 pm on a school night. burger van had shut before we finished and 9 year old daughter was cold tired and hungry. luckily she had won both her classes and they gave out pick n mix! she got under the covers in the luton and ate her sweets! and went to school on time the next day. like the dressage markers: B for bad: M mother.

A sewed fabric leek :D
It was a fun jumping comp a few years ago, where you had to jump a course of fences carrying a small bucket filled with water, and the winner was the one with the fewest faults (but everyone went clear) so it went to the one (me :))who had lost the least water - leaked (leek, get it? ;)) the least water (and because it is a Welsh symbol I suppose).

Other than that, I've only ever won normal stuff - rosettes etc.

haha some wierd ones on here!

I remember a few years back we were jumping george somewhere over near doncaster (cant remember the name of the place!) and im sue they must have had siletnight for sponsors or something because we won the BN and the disco and came away with two duvets?! useful i suppose.....

My daughter once won a xmas tree in an unaffilliated sj competition. She had to go in the arena and pick which one she wanted - they where placed beside the jumps as decorations.

Good thread - won an easter egg and egg cup (strangely enough at an Easter show) - still hvae the egg cup sitting amongst other trophies. At the other end of the scale, same horse did win a very posh decanter of vintage cognac. He would probably have preferred carrots in both cases.

although a weird first prize for winning a combine training comp in Sydney...i was quite happy...

an hours massage!!! score!!!! (it is meant to say hours not horse, i deserved it more than the horse)!!

One comp we went to, all the prizes were on a big table and you could choose - problem was that all the greedy little munchkins who'd perhaps come third got in quick and nabbed the best stuff (a tad badly organised, no?). Any way we picked up a nasty yellow Renault watch (later fobbed off to a friend with a Renault lol) and a sort of patchwork style throw :-( However the throw has been used as a sofa cuddly leg cover ever since so is probably almost the most useful prize we've ever got!!
Absolute worst was a stupid tiny pink brush for coming second (but Sophie's ex was in charge of prize allocation, along with new gf!!) so perhaps not surprising!
Best prize was a box of goodies for coming second in the end of season event, full of useful stuff like AVS14, tack cleaning spray, etc and a huge tub of something that we sold to Sophie's trainer for about £30 (and she still got a bargain!). Better than the winner she only got a set of white bandages haha

I won 2 Easter eggs for showing my mini Shettie when she was a 2yo. Not weird considering it was at a show over Easter; the worrying part was when the judge said they were for the pony to eat not me and and could we open one now so she could give some to the pony as she was so cute :o  Needless to say the pony did not receive any of the chocolate :o

T_E there used to be a venue near here that gave away things like video recorders and TVs in the early 80's (some of the very old Northern SJ peeps may know where I mean) turns out they were all knock off from container lorries!!!!!
:D :D

There was a venue east of the Pennines did that after the original owner had sold up and moved on, it's not the same one is it?

Otherwise Bratwurst and food in Germany as prizes, over here I have as an adult won a mug full of pony cubes and a bag of mixed toffees.

I won a PN section a few years ago and won a lovely cheque for £40 (very pleasing!!) and the brightest pink fleece rug I have ever seen......to top that it was a 6'9, I mean, who would BUY a rug that size in that colour (maybe that's why they had been donated as prizes!)???? Unfortunately it didn't suit my chestnut ;) so was quickly rehomed (the rug, not horse ;))!!!!

Funny reading these. The one thing I always think is nice is carrots given to the horses. I've been to the odd show where they have a picnic basket full of them so each horse in the line up gets a carrot - that's a nice touch. Often the horses get nothing they'd actually like!

Last easter at a BSJA comp, we were given a small bunch of daffodils - I liked that! Very fitting with the season and I'd rather those than unhealthy chocolate eggs!
