Wild Fell Pony Arriving This Week Any Tips?

exactly my thoughts T_K, it could try and get out and injure itself, let it settle first in a small field being given food daily and hay and slowly being touched etc etc then put in a confined space like a stable, that's what I would do anyway, good luck

Think I'm echoing other posters but don't force for contact and bonding.

First week will probably be better than the second and third week in which you think he hates you! LOL! We are just finishing lightly breaking a 3yo pony we bought a few months ago. He had very little human contact so a little wild. But his first week he was pleasant and happy. Then a couple of people at the barn started making a fuss of him because he was so cute. I told them to back off, nicely, and to let him come up to them. He was getting very defensive about being forced to accept all the fuss. Way too much for him. So second and third week was a lot of ear pinning and being rather unpleasant. We ignored him. Most people would have gone in with the "that's not acceptable" route. And had it been one of mine it definitely wouldn't be acceptable. But this pony came from a total different background and life. After the third week he was his normal pleasant self. We just had to ignore the looks which were just " I don't know what to do with all this attention, help"! We went in to brush, rug, ect. Normal horse things and left him. He's an absolute delight under saddle and will make a super pony one day. Not scared of anything. Now he looks forward to a scritch and kiss.

Best of luck and you will be fine. We need pics!
