I wouldnt price him too low, start higher you can always come down....my friend brought similar for 1500 because he is unflappable on the roads and he is also a bit bargy on the ground but my suggestion to the OP would be to get a chiffney, friends cob knows as soon as he has this on he walks beautifully.
Where are you btw? sorry if you have already posted this
He's lovely. Sadly i just bought a new pony. I read on the other post people sugesting selling him for £1000. I'm sorry but I honestly think this is over priced. My new pony sounds similar to yours he has a few issues that make him unsutable for a child. I paid £550 inclu tack and rugs! And wouldn't have paid more than that. I havn't bought him to sell on so the low price isn't to make profit. I realy hope you manage to find him a nice home and find yourself a nice horse that suits you.
his bargyness is not when leading.
its when grooming and tacking up.
he wnt stand still swings round .......through you
and he trys to barge you out the way with his head.
by time your tacked up you dont want to ride
you want a weeks holiday :{
I really really love him, hes so nice!!
Hes nice and cobby too...........HMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm
*goes off to remind one self that i cannot have 5 horses*
He's really lovely, i am sure there will be someone confident out there who wants a project to bring on to show. He would be perfect for that, especially since i suspect he still has quite a bit of filling out to do. I would also not price him too low, about 1000-1500 would be about right i think and you will attract the right sort of buyers then who are more sensible. Hopefully you will get loads of interest since he looks quite flashy (with the right piccies, as said above) and then you can pick from a bunch who is best for him. You can be honest when they ring up, just put in the ad he needs someone confident and experienced as can be bolshy and excitable in open spaces. Then you can explain properly when they ring. Or maybe get a friend to talk to them so you don't overemphasise his bad points!
but no, no no who is saying about pulling his mane and clipping out his feathers. Please no, he looks fab as he is. A nice little traditional. When he fills out more he will be even more stunning. But he should be shown exactly how is as a traditional. Hogged and having feathers removed won't make him look any more of a show type than he is already. My own personal view is that good looking traditionals ( which he is) should be kept as that, especially when they have good manes. forelock and amazing feathers. His feathers look super silky soft which is the best to have. Hard to tell from the pics but they look like they start from the back of the knee which would be even better.
I do agree with what Mother-Hen said though about the saddle. Yes it does fit but a smaller one would make him look bigger. Also the saddle was chosen to fit the rider as well as the pony. Shorter people may not require one that is as big in the seat. Not being offensive btw just saying that a child (or similar) size saddle may look better on him if Wildwest wants to show him to his true potential as people generally want to see the pony/horse not the tack. May be worth having a picture of him playing in the field or similar as well to show off those beautiful feathers and mane. They look better with movement. I have some lovely shots of my gypsy vanner I took to a show this year and he was 4th on his debut in a big class and the pictures of him trotting in particular made his feathers and mane flow.
I cannot post them though as they are professional pictures and other ones I have are poor quality.
oh I wish I had some money!!! I'd have him like a shot!!! Sounds like my little roan cob reg manners, but keep on top of her and she's fine - give her an inch she'll take a mile.....bet this chap will be snapped up!!
Just seen him on Horsemart, he is lovely and an absolute bargain. I would snap him up if I was nearer. Someone is going to get a cracker after a bit of discipline.
