will a vet give me age proof?

just a query as i cant get on the phone at the mo to ask them myself,

on my ponies passport it says age - unknown (as is breed, dam, sire... you get the picture she was a bit of a pikey pony probably at some point)

when i bought her almost 3 years ago and had her jabbed i asked the vet to age her or atleast a rough estimate.

Ageing her is a little more difficult as her teeth are pretty messed up due to some sort of problem in earlier life (doesnt cause her any problems now, just looks worse than it is) http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d173/vicki1986/teeth.jpg

Now my problem is this - she is now 15/16 yrs old - i recently entered a veteran showing class which meant i qualified for a championship (15+ Events) but the judge made several comments questioning her age and at one point i really wondered if she was going to ask me to leave the ring!! (she was in season, and is in impeccable condition even if i do say so myself so i can sort of understand but i really don't think they believe me at all!)
I am eager to do more veteran classes, but am reluctant to without some sort of 'proof of age' certificate or something !!

If i ask the vet will they produce some sort of document stating her age even if it is only approximated to a year or so??

You cant exactly age a horse afer 7-8 years. the only way is if its registered. They will estimate but when they did my horse they said between x and y and it was a 6 years range!!!

I think the only way a vet would ever be willing to give a certificate to guarantee an age is if they delivered it as a foal! But my vet and horse dentist have both confirmed my veteran is "aged" and that was when he was about 19. The dentist said they can never be much more accurate than that after a certain age.

I remember getting my first horse, the Lady i bought him off said she had him since foal (i bought him as an 8yr old) had vet & dentist out, dentist said he looked like an x-racer and aged him as a 15yr old!!!! I dont think u can be certain unless theres proof and not sure if vet will do this, but theres no harm trying - why not give the surgery a call to get advice?

The vet is at our yard in 2 weeks time anyway and i just happen to be there that day anyway so will ask and see if theres anything possible they could do, if not i will leave vet classes for this season and go again next yr maybe she will look slightly more 'aged' then
