My Mare grazed her eye today (see other post) and has a graze above her eyelid - it has scraped the fur off and the skin and is quite raw looking but not deep or anything. Just wondering if the hair will grow back white or not?
Its no big deal if it does grow white - just curious, just so glad she's okay

my mare has had several scrapes and the hair has grown back normally, the only time it has grown back white is on some sores from tape holding a dressing in place for over a month

If it is just a minor graze, probably not. Try applying Aloe Vera gel as it helps hair grown back normal colour (tip from Robert Oliver!)

My boy fractured his leg and had a bad wound fron the kick, wierd thing is the wound area hair grew back black but a pressure sore from the robert jones bandage for his fractured leg grew back white.

Put some CutHeal on it if you can (not sure how close it is to the eye, you obviously dont want to get this stuff in it). Swear by the stuff, it is a bit gross and makes the hair round the cut / graze clump together and fall out (so be very careful applying it) BUT the cut itself heals so well and no white. I even used this stuff on a bay pony with a really really nasty gash (not quite bad enough for stitches) which I definately assumed would grow back in white or leave a horrid scar but actually it left nothing at all! Amazing stuff.
