Will hand grazing make any sort of (even tiny) difference...

... trying to put weight on mare. She obviously has hay/haylage plus bucket feeds but her grazing is poor at the mo so just because she enjoys it i take her down the lane for some lush grass. I usually do this for 2 hours per day. Just out of interest, will be make any difference?

what are you feeding her hard feed wise? is she on ad lib hay/haylage and which do you feed?

Ad lib haylage. Bailey's conditioning cubes, sugar beet, chaff, supermarket oil and carrots.

sounds like you're doing all the right things, I think grass is a bit rubbish eveywhere at the min. Is she a TB?! I'd carry on hand grazing if you have time, and she's happy

Grass is still pretty poor where we are too, I def think taking her to some good grass each day will be helping - keep it up!

Adding linseed to her feed may help too. Is working wonders with our mare!
