hi, im 5ft4 and 8st9lbs (i used to be 9st10lbs; and im trying to get down to 7st7lbs) i am trying to get a 13.2hh welsh cob X pony. I have met him and he is a very strong and sturdy pony. (My dad even got on top of him and walked about on him :D so do you think i will be too big for him before i buy him?

Also, I am hoping to buy a 16.2hh mare and her foal, would i be a good size for her aswell?thankyou:)

No, you need to be at least 3st4lbs and 2ft 5inches tall :D

i think you'd be ok, im 5ft11 and 10st and rode my friends 13.2hh pony today, couldn't jump because i took the jump down with my feet but he didn't seem to struggle as wanted to run off with me :rolleyes: however, i'm just the right size for my 16.2hh mare so i think you'd be over horsed.

lol, nope, it was in a snaffle and it runs off with everyone apart from its owner. only rode it for 3 min and had to get off because i just couldn't do it, i'll stick to the big horses :D

Aww bless - some horses are just like that. I rode a friends hunter once and I couldn't even get it to move one step... in any direction!

You will be fine on a 13.2, actually you'd be fine on a 12.2! :p

Also at 5ft4 7st7 is quite skinny. At 5ft I'm just over 7st and apparently I'm an unhealthy weight don't want you getting ill,

Koko, if you're not on a diet and are doing lots of good exercise and generally lead a good lifestyle you aren't an 'unhealthy' weight even if you are an 'abnormal' one - people come in all sorts of sizes, and if you feel good and eat whenever you're hungry then you are surely healthy! At under 7 stone and 5 foot I am under the 'normal' weight for my size but by no means underweight.

OP, no way! 13.2 is a great size, I'd highly recommend. You may find you don't feel as secure in the saddle than with a 14.2 +, but then again I think this only really applies to spindly little things even smaller than 13hh. 16.2 is fine too if you feel comfortable with it, but at 4 inches shorter than you I just find saddling up and general handling a bit of a struggle over 16hh :o

Three new neds, sounds exciting! Good luck

:O Andy probably doesnt even realise your on him (;

I would think you would be a perfect size for her. I'm 5ft 8 and 11st despite being a size 8-10 and I ride my C in my picture who is 13.2 and look fine on her and within her weight range due to the amount of bone she has

holy cr*p! 7st 7lbs?!?! how did you do that ?
i think you'd be absolutely fine at the weight you are now!
but hell yeah go for it, i'm 5ft 3 and ride a 13.3 chunky welsh and we get on fab and she takes up my leg well enough that she doesn't look too small for me :D

Maybe you should get a shetland - Oh but make sure you get your dad to try it first though yeah, just incase and all......:rolleyes:

awh thanks everyone for the comments :) i got the pony , hes great :D ive been jumping him and hes being doing very well. im still not sure about the mare and foal yet :/ but i hopefully will (yn)
