I'm sitting here typing, staring out the window watching the snow pelt down once again. It was quite novel the first time it came down before christmas, but now its just boring and tiresome!!

How is everybody coping? What are you doing with your horses at the moment?

I am trying to keep a couple of areas free of snow so my 2 can at least walk around.

As fast as i shovel the snow its replaces itself

I am soooo fed up of this snow now and the weather men dont seem have any idea when it might start to thaw out

Well we keep a diary of what our horses are up to and looking back, we had snow on Thursday 17th December which led to ice etc, etc. which meant our horses kept in for 11 days running. We then had a thaw which allowed our lot to go our for 5 days and then since then the snow has been layered with ice, then snow and then ice, etc.etc. so now it's a 2feet high snow and ice sandwich and much too dangerous to get anything out - we've been mucking out straight onto the yard to make it safe for us to move about, but no way can we get a wheelbarrow into the yard let alone put muck in it and wheel it out to the muck heap.

Looking at our weather forecast, we are supposed to have sun for the next two days, so if that's the case, will take a pick-axe to the worst ice and tip loads of loose haylage down and hopefully get at least the youngsters and heavily pregnant broodmares out.

Then apparently after 2 days sunny, we're forecast for more snow again.

Its not snowing here at the moment but the snow we have had is frozen and treacherous. We are expecting more this weekend. Unfortunately my horse is kept 20 miles away with a long rural lane leading up to it and my YO has said I would never make it in my car - I havent seen my horse since Sunday - I am used to seeing him practically every day and feel bereft. But I did get her to send me a pic via mobile!

If I were on DIY of course I would have to make it and have done so in the past. I only moved recently due to my old yard not looking after him properly and as I travel away for work a lot and do long hours I have to be on part-livery.

They are all in as it so icy - when it snowed before Xmas they still went out but now its too dangerous. YO said she would walk them up and down the indoor barn aisle a few times to give them a leg stretch.
