I put some pig oil and sulpher on my cob's legs today to deal with feather mite, and put the container with it in on the floor.

Before I'd really realised what they were about, the two dogs were licking it up and just couldn't get enough of it!

Does anyone know (1) what exactly is in Pig Oil? and (2) will licking up pig oil & sulphur do them any harm?

I've had a quick search
Apparently sulphur can cause diarrhoea and vomiting and if a lot is ingested can cause carcinogens in the colon - don't panic though, as it was mixed with the pig oil I wouldn't think that there'd be a lot in there and if your dogs are okay now, there hopefully won't be a problem. Maybe give your vet a quick ring and check :)
Pig oil is a parafin based oil apparently - nothing to do with pigs :) it can prevent rain scald and is good to use in the rain - I presume it repells the water!
Hope this helps a little

ETA you can use sulphur and pig oil on dogs to get rid of fleas...so I'm sure if it was very harmful you wouldn't be able to use it on them!
