Hello, I have just had my darling 18 month cob delievered and he’s measuring smaller than the owner said (just under 13hh)
His parents are supposedly 14.2 and 14+
He doesn’t seem very bum high.. but it depends on how he stands.
I understand he is only 18 months and he’s the sweetest thing I am only 5’3 and ride short anyway.
Picture below if shows of cute boy and my other half who is 5’10 x
Thanks

Most (not all) cobs grow slowly until they're about 6 years old, so there is a good chance your boy will reach the desired height. I have known a few that levelled out early and stayed small, but the 14hh-15hh range of cobs is very well represented and hopefully yours will join. A decent 14hh cob rides quite big, btw!

I’m only small anyway so I don’t mind 14hh +. I’m just praying he does as he doesn’t look bum high. Just anxious haha :)
But thank you

Take a piece of string; hold one end on the point of the elbow, measure down to the ergot (at the back of the fetlock); keeping the end on the elbow, flip the other end up over the wither - that's the estimated final height. It's been remarkably accurate for me over many, many horses.
