I want to take my 7 year old mare out showing in the summer of 2012 but I am new to the showing world and wondered if she has real potential?

Personally I think she has brilliant conformation, but what is your opinion? :)

Can't help with your question though sorry! But I do think she is lovely :p

She looks like a beautiful girl. I also dont know if she has real potential, that depends on other things as well, like how she goes, what ride she gives judges.

Before you spend a fortune entering the big shows, could you get her to a showing clinic or get a lesson from an instructor who specialises in showing. That way you would also know what to work on before the summer.

When we started showing we got lots of help from the showring forum :D

Thanks! I've been onto the Scottish Showing forum and a woman on my yard who competes in ridden cob every year thinks i should go for it! She has a lot of learning to do so maybe not this summer but maybe either next summer or even late this autumn as the showing season comes to a close. I'll look around for any showing clinics in my area, thanks! :)

Shes a beautiful girl without a doubt. I used to do a lot of local showing with my cob in his younger days and although his conformation is spot on and he is very handsome - black with white socks and a white star and a lovely head, and nice movement as well, at 14.3hh he is just a little too small to do well at County level. I didnt care though, we just picked up lots of lovely red rossettes at local shows and had a lot of fun.

One thing I am sure you do know is that you will need to clip her feathers off if you are wanting to do show cob classes - I can see she is hogged as well, which is correct.

Whatever you do have fun on your gorgeous girl.

Thanks for replying :)
Yes she is definitely pretty, and standing at 15.1hh she isn't too big nor too small either. I do know that the feathers must come off but I believe in keeping them on over winter haha, just my opinion but she is a gorgeous girl with a fab attitude. Just need to work on our schooling as she can be very babyish

Who are you on SS?? Havent seen pics of your Cob there :)

I really cant tell as my screen aint big enough for your pic lol!! Also no legs in the pics either :D

She looks lovely from what I can see :)
