the vet saw ab today after her leg looking swollen last night, not lame or anything shes given her some bute.

i got her to check her absese and its looking miles better, still small amount of blood on poultice when its getting changed. anyhooo we are meant to be doin a ride a week on wednesday the farrier thought she would be fine for it but the vet told me i was being too optimistic. she walking well and her foot is hardening up again and she's much better in herself

i usually take the farriers word over the vet when it comes to abseses (he has a world of experience with them and he has always been right in the past )

he's coming to put shoes on her tomoro so hopefully he'll think its looking good.

do u think im being too optimistic??

I probably wouldn't, but if you really want to go and she looks fine a few days before then you could try but be weary that she may be a little sore.

Depends how bad the abscess was. My horse had one once but was sound a couple of days after farrier dug it out and then I poulticed it. SO he went back into normal work no problems. I think you just have to play it by ear and see how she goes. I'd think she should be fine for the ride but don't push it if she is still sore.

vet says once she has shoes on to start exercising her, shes not really sore on her foot from the absese more being barefoot if u kno what i mean. shes galloping around the field happy as larry so fingers crossed.
