If he has been that good to her it is a shame she doesn't keep him on herself. I always feel sorry for horses that are moved on because they aren't up to the same job anymore especially if they have been loyal companions. I know sometimes it cannot be helped but i personally would rather not ride and keep my mare in semi or full retirement.
He looks like a really lovely horse and I hope the right home is found for him.
Sunny08 it sounds like the 'owner' is actually a uni student so, realistically, it is likely to be the parents paying (or not) to keep him on. Shame though. Hope for the best for him.
There is a little retired pony living at my yard looked after by a couple in ther 30s (ish - I haven't asked!). Pony is a similar age and was her childhood one. Her family loaned it out then retired it until she was able to take it on herself. Very responsible family - I hope they have kids too!
