Would this pony do well showing in hand?

He is a 3 year old welsh section A. I have never shown in hand before. Would like to start local and go from there.

Also what is correct to wear at all levels (just so I look professional).

Sorry the pictures arnt fab, only had him a few days!

Any advice, experience, CC welcomed :)

He's beautiful! I think he'd do well.
Tweed with dark trousers because he has light legs. Take a look at a local equestrian photographer website at the M&M in hand classes :)

He is gorgeous! I must say I do really like Welsh ponies! (And shetlands)
I hope you do well and please could you keep us all posted? I'd like to see what the future holds for this stunning pony!

Yes I can keep you posted. I am much more into my jumping but one horse is going in foal and the other is turned away. He is a summer project and if he does well I will carry this on along side jumping. He is very very sweet!

he is eye-catching.

in the 1st pic he looks to have very upright pasterns or is it the camera angle?

Could be the way he's standing on that surface tbh. Makes it look alittle worse.

We have a tullibardine sec a, I would love to show him inhand. Can't wait untill wee one moves on to 12.2's lol

I will try and enjoy it! Waiting round is fine, plenty of time to stuff my face at the burger van!

Will be a nice change from jumping two or three times a week out and about.

I just need to buy clothes to wear. Real mix of what people recommend. Also had a google and there are also a real mix on there of what handlers wear. :/

It's a funny thing. Our friend shows in hand, and she shows for other people in hand. And she often wears black trousers, white shirt and black waistcoat!
And she's always in the ribbons and in most cases off with a 1st.
She wears a tweed jacket when it's cold.

I'd definately say dark colours, you don't want to blend into him, black trousers, white shirt and black waistcoat sounds good to me, so long as it's in the class rules. Remember it's about the over all picture of the two of you together. Look what the handlers of other winning greys are wearing.

He's stunning.
Deff wear black trousers so the judge can see his legs. :D And remember when you do your trotup infront of the judge run streight at him/her They will get out the way. ;) :p :D
Good luck with him and I hope you have lots of fun.

Thats a point! What am I expected to do during the show?

Im going to wear black trousers, waist coat and white shirt and black velvet hat (all borrowed)
Going to buy him a while rope halter as I am told this is correct.

stunning pony, he should definately be in the ribbons, if you google mountain and moorland showing they have a really helpful section on what to wear, what the pony should wear, as there are certain rules due to age as to whether they have to be an in hand bridle, bitless or white headcoller, although im sure its more relaxed at local level, im hoping to do some in hand with Harry to get him used to the show scene, ive got cream jodphurs, white shirt, black waistcoat and gold tie, with long riding boots, im petrified though as im sure he will have a bucking fit, refuse to stand still and drag me around the ring :)
best of luck

Could be the pics but he looks a bit weak 'behind the saddle' as it were. If you have started work on the ground with him I would do some in-hand hill work with him to help build up his quarters.

White halter for pony, one plait behind the ear to show off the jawline and discreet trimming to tidy up the face if required. Trousers, shirt and waistcoat for you and more often than not welsh handlers wear trainers as even with a section A you must run like the wind :)

You will walk round as class, then steward will halt entire class while each pony trots around the ring to the back of the queue. Line up then stand pony up for judge, walk away in straight line, trot back in straight line to judge then keep trotting back to line up. Good Luck! :)

When you trot - they really like to see Welshies moving out, so don't have him on too short a lead rein as you don't want to be pulling his head over towards you or stopping him from flowing forwards. :)

Good luck, hes looks a lovely pony, we are also about to jump into the world of showing Section A's after accidentally buying one a few weeks ago lol.
