With all the rain in the west recently set to continue how likely is it that Turnberry will run? My lad is entered for his first PN so maybe Im being a bit cautious but surely even the best ground cant hold up too well to all that rain

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news guys but just heard from a reliable source that Turnberry has in fact been cancelled!!!! BUT it will be re-scheduled for a couple of weeks time!!!- shame my horse is going on loan next week as Turnberry was ment to be our last event before uni!!!

Eeek! Really hope its not cancelled but after having spoken to a few people in the west it wouldnt suprise me!
Magic_Magpie: Is Burgie not rather large? Horsey is MORE than capable but is rather inexperienced and quite spooky so sillyness does still take over sometimes. He just needs more mileage but want it to be nice confident mileage

Ooh, if they run Turnberry the weekend Gleneagles was meant to run, that would be fantastic!! I couldn't enter Turnberry this weekend as up north at a friend's wedding.

Magic_Magpie, just doing my Burgie entry, but 'fraid as it'll only be our 2nd BE100, we're not about to join your class....yet!!

FigJam: Me too! Although Iv already entered Tunrberry so thats kind of my decision made! And its an extra couple of hours driving, bit of a trek from us. I have some very nice friends who were going to put me and fatty up overnight to break up the journey though, better check if the 20th is still ok!

Up on BE website now;

BE news announcement

Really not sure what to do. Would much rather do 3' course as I'm having wobbles about the fact that Dalkeith is saying max. height 3'3!

However, would much rather spend £31 than £90! Too ill to make a decision today, got a really heavy cold.

How long do you think the Turnberry entries will stay open for? I have until 14th Sept to make a decision about Dalkeith, but not sure when Turnberry will close entries.

Your cold wouldn't be the result of too much partying and camping in the rain at Blair would it?!!

Hope you are better soon!

I would always go to an event rather than SJ - but thats just me...................

Figjam, come to Turnberry. Its so nice doing a BE event...... & Turnberry is a really nice one. Send Tanya Adamson an email & ask her how long entries stay open for.

I would invite you to come & stay with us but we are an hour the 'otherside' of Turnberry so perhaps not that helpful but if you want to make a weekend of it you would both (all 3 inc horsey) be more than welcome.

Hope you make a speedy recovery, too much Blair wind & dampness me thinks.

Ha ha punk- our partying wasn't that wild, honest! We were in bed at the back of 11pm, what old farts!

Joss, that's a lovely offer, but Mr FigJam has pointed out the cost difference is massive (about £60 difference!) and that I'm to stop being a wuss about a whole 3" height difference, pony is more than capable. Plus, in good old unaff vagueness, it's "max" 3'3, so chances are most will be around 3' anyway. (I hope?!)

It's also half the distance = half the fuel. Especially since that's just jumped up in price- hmph!

Punk- it's an unaff ODE, so I still get to go XC!

Having had a taste of XC this year, I would indeed pick the XC over pure SJ as well!

Right, afraid cotton wool head/finances win over heart and it's Dalkeith unaff or nowt! Fingers crossed the weather stays nice both at Turnberry and Dalkeith at the end of the month.

Id entered was papping myself as first one but more time to practise now so a good thing hehe has anyone been before?

I was there last year and it was great. I'll go back because they have gone to the trouble of re-arranging the event instead of cancelling which would probably have been the easier option. Entry fees are only dearer because they pay affiliation to British Eventing which keeps the quality up.
