Really well written though provoking article. And I can deff agree with what he's saying. I spent 3 years doing BYRDS training when I was younger and little or no jumping. Now I tend to fiddle, over collect ect when i know at most times all i really need to do is kick! After selling my dressage pony i decided I wanted to take up SJ again and have since had a few nice jumpers, I now much prefer something quite buzzy in to a fence but still the temptation to put on the handbrake remains.

you can probably form your own opinions if you watch them working in. Equally though, there are some event riders who are pretty breath taking to watch working on the flat AND jumping. Andrew Hoy is a definate favourite. He rides as well over the XC fences as he is does when working in...
