William update and lots of herd pics, I removed loads of rugs today and took pics of everythings' condition.
Considering half the rugs stay on from October until now with just a hoik forward and a glimpse under every few days to check for weight loss, they cope ok..
Not BHS methods perhaps but they look fine, especially as some of them are aged and have poor teeth.
I spent 20 mins stalking my old Welsh cob, I walked, he trotted off, I walked, he trotted off etc and eventually he got hungry enough to stand long enough for me to remove his rug..Old devil!
The others all stood like rocks to have their rugs off, it's nice to see them all grazing without them in the sunshine.

Lovely piccies and wonderful to see William doing so well when everything was so dire for him.
You are very lucky to live where you do it is stunning and one of my Favorite parts of the UK, although my part of the garden of England isn't too bad either!
 
Its great to see William looking so well. He is a cracker isnt he! I always love this time of year when all the rugs come off. They must feel sooooo much better for it.

what a wonderful place you have and horses have a brilliant lifestyle
 
They all look so happy and well!! So few horses are lucky enough to have such a natural lifestyle on that sort of grazing!
Whats the story with Jacques being back home-? And Layla?

OB, Jacques is having a break in the run up to Badminton as CCJ is mad busy at work getting ready, she has taken Jonty instead and she is advertised and better facilities there to show her off.
Layla needs selling! I keep intending to advertise her but we are very busy with the house renovations so no time for anyone to ride her. Luckily she's a sensible sort so won't need a lot of work to be ridden again.
We will get round to it but right now we're busy choosing a kitchen/bathroom/windows/doors/tiles etc, so they are all doing b* all!
Jacques and jonty will likely swap back soon if she isn't sold as he is entered for Pontispool Intro.
 
I had a tiny little tear in my eye looking at Wililam's pics and his little intro 'i nearly died so many times'
He's a incredibly lucky horse to have been looked after by such a fighting family and vet. He must have that spirit in him!

HH, I do love looking at your pictures, my three went out yesterday in the grass paddock (they spend the winter in the menage with hay!) Of course they didn't put their heads down with abundant gratitude, instead they did a good impression of the calgary stampede. Grass paddock now looks like a moto x track

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I just LOVE looking at your pictures.

Will William be smaller than you had expected when fullgrown (because of his poor start)?

And those rug-killers - they did a good job!
 
I love the rug pictures! William is looking good - he has a nice amount of bone, hope he continues to thrive. Charlie is a little monkey!
 
Oh HH, I’m in love with Prince (always a sucker for a handsome coloured). All the neds look in great condition, and yes that view is fantastic!

I'm hoping William will be his expected height, mostly because he's been fed since a baby.
Saracen worked out a feed regime for him of level grow and yeast sac and speedi beet, as it was vital he didn't grow too fast.
The other foals of that year have only had haylage and the odd mineral block, so they will grow slower if anything. Everything seems to catch up before their fifth year so not feeding hard feed works for us.
We find as four year olds they have dense bone and never have any growth problems, hence my worries re feeding him. Luckily the infection was confined to round his joint not in it, so no damage seen on any of the X rays afterwards.
His siblings have made around 16 hh so that's optimum height for us.
He hasn't spent a night outside since he was ill, so that's going to be new to him too.
I laughed at the rug killers, the babies were the only ones who took any notice of me, the rest just carried on eating. The poor farrier has just been in there trimming some of the livery horses and had to have his lad stand guard over his car, otherwise they test their teeth out on the paintwork..delinquents, that what's they are..

Wow, I just love looking at your pics. Living in London it's a little escape for me - I didn't hear the traffic outside at all whilst I was looking and reading!

So glad William is doing well.

I'm quite tempted to add the sound to a vid as well, the only thing you can hear are the birds, and the occasional tractor working.
The nearest road is out of sight right at the bottom of the valley in the pic, and on Sundays all you hear are church bells and hooves as riders go past on the lane.
Glad you enjoyed an escape for a little while, the old blog is www.henryhorn.blogspot.com, that was the original one, I abandoned it after finding it hard to add pics when google changed their system.. lots of pics in the archives including views.
 
Sound as well would be fab - I could play it whilst Thames Water dig up the road directly outside
