I've seen far too much of my vets so far in 2014, am in the midst of a very lame horse & we are still no closer to getting a precise diagnosis after all the routine nerve blocks etc. But my vets have been amazing - Wessex Equine - they are a newish practice & originally I gave them a try as they were a fair bit cheaper for routine work, call outs etc. but I've been blown away at the service.

They try & send the same vet out for continuity, all the vets have followed up by text or email to check in on the horses after non-routine visits, even whilst one of them was abroad on holiday over Xmas after PG trying to die on me, they still emailed to check in. The ladies in the office phone to remind you re vaccs etc. They keep in contact during the day if they are running early or late so you aren't hanging around the yard & all handle horses very very well. Following on from the insurance thread below, in my experience they have been hugely practical with diagnosis & if it's unlikely to change the course of treatment then they are very clear about that & chat through the option.

So whilst I would like to see a bit less of them in the second half of the year, it's a huge thumbs up from me & if you are looking for horse vets in my neck of the woods I'd wholeheartedly recommend them.

have used them since they set up and yep they are brilliant, :D i love the fact they are down to earth guys and don't try and baffle you with science, they aren't offended by my sense of humour either which is always a good thing! asking your vet for horse curry recipes may not be appreciated by some lol
