But any horse can be wrecked by a numpty! why is it so wrong to raffle, rather than sell?

Many years ago my sister won a welsh pony in a raffle at Barton EC, tickets were a pound, there were people buying 10 a time, and my sister only had her £1 pocket money and she won!!! We didnt keep the pony though, he was sold in the summer of that year.

A Freind of mine recsued a horse after it was won in a raffle by a freind of hers - a 6 month old Shire horse - it made 18.3 fully grown and the lady who won it thought she could keep it on her back garden!
Personally dont think its the best idea!

I personaly think its a bad idea .. poor horse doesnt know whats it bin let in for .. any person could end up winning that possibly not haveing and idea about the care of horses and a result of a fantasic horse being destryoed.

I think it's a bit distasteful...particularly as its a 2yo rising 3yo...imagine what might happen to it/with it...

Not a lot worse than could happen to/with it when it went through the auction I guess?

Two rising three and jumping that big.....

the pics are misleading - they're actually of the mare's sire, not the mare they're raffleing who could look like a complete donkey!

I think the questions are a bit easy- most 9 year olds who read Pony magazine could answer them (or look them up on google!) but would be totally incapable of looking after a 2 year old horse, obviously. I don't think that people have to prove that they are competent enough.

Hi

I am certain that they would have to get the parents consent and everything. I think it depends whether win a horse competitions are good or not, obviously they take time to find a nice horse or pony for the winner when it is a magazine but at the same time I find it strange as it is an animal, a living being, not a comodity.

When horses are auctioned even at the top auctions there is no gurarantee that the horses will go to good homes. I feel a bit sorry for the horse that is being given away as a prize in this case. I hope they will find a good home with someone who actually wants them.
