Wind breaking arena fence

I live in a very exposed area. I'm looking at putting in an arena and need some form of wind breaker.
My thoughts so far are:
Conifers but this requires maintenance and they won't be at the height required for some time.
Or
A higher post and rail fence with the wind break mesh
Any photos or ideas would be amazing!

I'd definitely go for the mesh. You can always add some greenery as well if you wish but in my experience the local bird life like to fly out and "surprise" you at the most inopportune moment!!!

the surface you have looks similar to mine, flexiride. I have lost a lot of it through the scaffold netting i currently haVE, as it has rotted in places where we pinned it to the fences.
so, my questob is does the wickes netting last? thanks!

Dont use conifers they are very toxic to horses and can be addictive so once they start eating them very little will stop them. Lost a 2 year old welsh cob to conifer poisoning the worst are yew and leylandii

Yes! B*%%*y pigeons....also leylandii grow like nothing you've ever seen, give them a few years and you'll be wondering how on earth to prune them without hiring someone in.

I personally would just have a high fence with net or something, I hate arenas with trees and bushes around the edges I currently have trees along one long and one short edge, they are never cut back or trimmed so when it's windy they really move and my horses spook all the time, the birds are a pain as they sit on them flapping around it drives me mad.
